Played in the mens invitation at Highwoods today. Really nice guy I've known for years invited me to be his guest.
He played out of his boots, I played like a prat.
40 points won it, we ended up with 38.
I must have missed at least 3 putts from 3 feet or less for pars, couldn't putt for toffee.
If I got on a green in regulation I three putted. 12th hole, par 4. 5 Wood nailed down the middle, 9 iron to 6 feet. 3 putted for 1 point. Bollocks.
I feel guilty.
I cost him a win.
I only bloody parred one hole for a 3 pointer.
I'm giving this poxy game up.

sounds familiar - are you going to rise from the ashes for next week!

Just back from the invitation day at Caversham and we got 38 - I missed 3 puts from about 2 feet and 1 on the last from about 3-4 feet - all pulled over the left edge of the hole! Played well apart from a few blow ups - level after 4. It seems like golf is just meant to be nearly days and blow ups! Only lost 4 balls today so things are picking up! :D :D

Everyone has days like that, I played a couple sundays ago and played like a tool, couldnt hit anything, nevermind putt i was looking to be near a green in reg! lol

Just smile and remember the good rounds!

Could always blame the greens

Greens were good. Can't blame them at all. It was me. Driving and hitting my irons quite well. If I missed the green with my second I was chipping well and giving myself really good chances to save something but was either pulling or pushing my putts. I was doing this habitually a few months ago but I've been putting "reasonably" well lately and thought I had got over it but it all came back to haunt me yesterday.
The one good thing to come out of yesterday was that I was hitting my irons better than I have been of late. But the way this games plays with your mind, when my putting does come back my iron play or driving will go out of the window.
Never mind.
It's my mate Roy I feel sorry for. He played the best golf I have ever seen him play ever, and on the couple of holes he did cock up I was in a position to make amends but didn't. I threw at least 4 points away with putts that I would have made a couple of weeks ago and based on that we would have won yesterday.
