Absolute shocking customer care

I was ringing up direct golf on a price match offer which any one of there staff should know if they can or can't, I rung up yesterday at around 2pm with them saying ill call back very soon, at half past 5 I called them again to see if they could price match to then get told sorry but I called head office earlier and the only 1 person that knew if they could price match was out and he had sent an email and he would find out this morning and he would ring me at dinner today, well I've just had to ring them again to try get an answer and the 1 lady that only knows if they can match the price still has not got back in touch , so why can't they take the time of 30 seconds to ring me an let me know fuming ain't the word
 
Sounds like a complete fob off, sounds as though the guys in the shop either a) can't be bothered to check or b) they need some serious training. As no business should have a single person who is the font of all knowledge just shows for bad customer service and means a lot of lost custom
 
One of my big bugbears of today's businesses is them not ringing back when they say they will. I'm probably cutting off my nose to spite my face but They do it to me once and I don't deal with them again.

It cost a local golf shop £1,500 of my business a couple of years ago. Perhaps they didn't need it. They closed last year.
 
Slightly off topic i tried on line golf once asking them to price match and they said no..... yet on 2 occasions American golf has price matched and on one occasion beaten the price..

Same company different rules :rolleyes:
 
Shame about your predicament. Only used DG a few times but they have always been good to me. I purchased a pair of shoes a couple of years back from them and after 6 months had to return them due to them leaking. They did an exchange no questions asked.
 
Not surprised... I've been given the cold shoulder by John Lewis in the past... No big deal their not obliged to sell to me just as I'm not obliged to buy from them... Just got what I wanted from the cheaper source...
 
No its not good customer care, but I can only speak positively of my local DG store and the customer service is excellent, though I have never tried to price match, which they do advertise in store .
 
I have also had nothing but top service from dg in Cambridge. Really helpful every time I use them. It is about 40 miles away but worth the journey for me. Compare that to the peterborough store, poor service and staff and still even try to charge for the hardcover
 
Is it poor, yes! Is it shocking, only if it’s the very first time someone has failed to return your calls?

So leaving aside the shock value & poor service is it right that many/all staff are empowered to give a simple reactionary yes/no answer to your request or is it better to have your enquiry dealt with on a case by case basis to check the accuracy & validity of your claim. I guess more than one person would be ideal for back up when the appointed person isn’t around & the volume of these requests may not warrant it full time but it should certainly be a more resilient process

If it were my shop I definitely would'nt want any one of the staff making these decisions when we may be talking about the whole profit margin

I use DG in stanmore. They have been fine with the price match. They look it up on their computer, to check that you aren't fibbing, and then match it no probs.

If they are needing to go up the chain, you must have found a real bargain price?

Sorry guys been busy but all has been sorted by a very nice chap at another dg store all within 30 secs of been on the phone to him went over Saturday deal done

Personally, I window shop on line and then go into AG where you can try out the product (if clubs). I then tell them how much I can get the product for and from where and they the only time they wouldn't price match was on my Ping i15 hybrids.
