Aberdour V Pitreavie

Charelton is a consideration (is it better than Aberdour and Pitreavie?) but kirkcaldy was a none starter over the weekend. Would love to play Balbirnie but I'm on a tight budget, £100 for 2 night stay and 3 rounds of golf. So far we are playing Thornton on Friday £12.50, Dunnikier Sat £20 with the hotel costing £35. so i have 32.50 to play with for a Saturday or Sunday round (Dunnikier can be moved to Sunday)

In terms on Muni's I forgot about Kinghorn... brilliant links stylee course and better then Dunni, best Muni around the area IMO (and 5 mins from Kirkcaldy).
Cowdenbeath's infamous Dora is infamous for a reason :D and Glenrothes has gone to pot, used to be OK.
Private parkland course at Lochgelly which is not too shabby during the summer months (15 mins from Kdy)

I looked at Kinghorn, but the 4800yrds off the yellows didn't seem much so I just discounted it. I'm not a massive Links fan but it looks good, does it play that short?

No, it doesn't at all. It's tricky. More than a couple of lovely testing holes, amazing views over the Forth in to Edinburger. Undulating, fast fairways and great greens. Always in good shape, we even played there on Hogmanay and it was still great when most other courses were closed due to bad weather.

As you can guess it's my favourite local Muni :D

Thanks for all of you input, I'll make a decision tonight once I ve spoke to the lads.

If you're ever playing in Northumberland and want a game or advice let me know

The Hunting course at Slaley is top draw, always in good nick and a solid test of golf. I'd consider sneaking in a few cans from the supermarket or you could be bankrupt if you have too many drinks there;)

Yeah we have a round on the Hunting Saturday and the Preistman Sunday.
I have been down before on the bag for my old man playing in the seniors (I suggested it as an expensive "joke" only for everyone to agree). Bags will be loaded up no doubt and a few hip flasks of "rusty nail" :D

Never mind any of them goat tracks that have been mentioned i'm sure you could get Scotscraig at roughly £32 - 35 after 1.30 on a Sunday, a real course.

Just too far the wrong way, possibly looking at Dundee area next year so that could be on the list
ooo -then you MUST play Arbroath! played it the other week and its a stunning wee course - a million times nicer than montrose and dirt cheap too ;)
