A9 Speed Cameras

It's like putting a band-aid on a severed limb though.

Should've been dualled 30 years ago instead of buying nuclear weapons and getting involved in illegal foreign wars, then maybe some of the scores dead might still be around.

Typical under-investment in UK infrastruture north of Watford Gap, leave it for the next politician to deal with.

It was a move that was bound to reduce the number of accidents. It makes drivers drive within the speed limit nowadays. Dualling is a step forward , but it isn't the only answer. Some of the worst driving is on the dualled sections where people put the foot down. Road design is another issue, too many accidents where continental drivers turn onto the main A9 and turn into the oncoming traffic. Road design needs to make this an impossible move.

I don't understand why there are average cameras on the Dunblane to Perth section which is all dual carriageway anyway. Probably one of the best moves was to increase the max speed for HGVs on the single carriageway sections from 40 to 50 mph which reduces the frustration of other drivers and prevents the long tailbacks behind them.

Tourist drivers are certainly a problem, especially coming out of a petrol station on the wrong side of the road [I suppose the French get the same with UK drivers].
That bit of the A9 just north of Pitlochry always seems to cause accidents. Confuses me sometimes so god knows what it does to the tourists.

One of the main factor's for the fall in accidents is Tesco has switched a lot of its freight from road to rail . far less frustration for drivers now, so less risks.
