A Stance is a stance?

How does a narrow stance cause swaying ?
It does for me on full shots, because I can't brace my swing against my legs. I just end up losing my balance. I recently had a couple of months of playing rubbish because my stance got too narrow. Shoulder width apart seems to work just fine.

You dont suppose that you sway without realising it which is ok with the wide stance but makes you lose your balance with the narrow stance?

I can make a three-quarter swing with a short iron without losing my balance, and as I said, use this as a practice drill. However in a full swing you want to make use of the muscles in your legs, which you can't really do with your legs and feet together. One of my senior golfing friends plays all his shots with his feet together and he sways around like a kelly man trying to keep his balance, and his full shots go everywhere, although his short game isn't bad. He is a 23 handicapper, but I am sure that he could be better than that if he widened his stance a bit.
