A little advice please

I think i'll head to a local field during the week and try figure out my carry distances at least then that will be one problem off my mind....Next will be my short game.....At the moment my short game's pathetic.......

It sounds to me like you do need to sort out your distances - we all need to be confident when hitting a shot.

I take balls to the club range (as opposed to the driving range) and hit (say) 12 yellow ones at the 150 marker and 12 white ones at the 200 (with a rescue) or at the 100 with a wedge. I disregard a few short or long ones, hopefully leaving 6-8 in a consistent area. That gives me my distances. I do this every few months and then use the ball mark function on my skycaddie whilst out and about if I hit a ball which seems overly short or long.

I hit a beauty down the 6th the other day off a tee (I was only carrying 5-PW and 3 wood) and measured it out on my skycaddie at 197!! (that's a lot for me.....remember I'm no spring chicken) I disregard this sort of thing, needless to say.
