A few weeks ago, after another bad day with the Driver, I decided to sell it/ditch it/break it and go forward with just a Strong 3 Wood, and invested in a new TM RBZ Stage 2 Tour 3W, and 5W, and to say they've been a success would be huge understatement !

1st time out - 38pts, and a cut from 9.4 to 9,......and then, 2nd Comp last night,.....another 38pts......and a cut to 8.4.

Who says we need Drivers ????

Take heed.........
:D:)

Nice work Sir!!

Still working on my best setup at the top end - only taken 10+ years so another few weeks/months won't hurt...

Excellent - I think you should take more credit than the clubs though!!

Is what i was thinking!

Binning the driver has probably psychologically freed your swing thoughts and giving you a more positive outlook to your round.

Now...where do i find a TM RBZ Stage 2 Tour 3W

Well, I am a smidge pleased with myself, I have to admit.
In all honesty though, it really is that the 3W is more forgiving, and on those that dont quite 'get it right', it leaves me just off the fairway and not buried in the trees, its as simpe as that.
That said, its crazily long when it is middled, - our longest Par 4 - a 460yd behemoth, was brought to its knees my a 3W and smooth 7W recently, and a tap in Par :-)
The 5 wood is a powerful tool too - easily covers 230yds, and easy to hit off the deck, so a useful and powerful addition.

Last nights round was also assited greatly by a 'guest appearance' from my Odyssey 2 Ball, who dispatched only 30putts all evening.
Sweeeet.

I've been using the 3 wood a lot more as it has been so dry and have reaped some rewards with increased accuracy and minimal loss of distance although once the course gets out to full length in winter it may not be such a good choice. I may be happy to take it and accept the green is out of range and play it as a par 5 (if a long 4) and use the shot I get. Interesting concept but not prepared to ditch the driver at this stage.

Question, is the 3w easier to hit because it's shorter or because of the increased loft.I recently shortened mt driver to 43.5 inch no loss of distance and more control, it's also probanly a couple of swing weights lighter so I'm more than likely swinging it a bit faster.
