So after playing around with a friends driver at the range, my regular 12 degree Ping was shown to be a little too whippy, and much too high launching with the 12*. I love his 10.5* regular TM RBZ stage 2, and despite being a regular as well, the shaft felt much more solid.

Unfortunately, I can't really afford a newish driver right now! So what i'm looking for is suggestions on old(ish) drivers that are still pretty damn good, that are similar to the RBZ Stage 2, so basically where the stock Regular shaft is more of a stiff/reg rather than a reg/reg.

Tough ask, but there is enough knowledge on here that I hope someone has suggestions! Probably looking for a £50 ebay job! (or if anyone knows of any amazing deals....)

Stop wasting time and money and just get an SLDR

You sound EXACTLY like the assistant at my local range. You forgot to mention the 30 day money back guarantee, so I may as well buy it and take it back in 30 days.

What he looked over, was that every shot i hit with the SLDR had a massive slice. Clearly my swing, I accept that, but it seemed to accentuate that compared with other drivers. He just kept pointing out that I gained 12 yards with the total distance.

I would love to get fitted for a new Driver (G25/SLDR/etc) but can't afford it at the moment at all! And i don't fancy having a SLDR for a month, falling in love with it, and not getting my money back at the end!

I guess look for a TM club as they tend to be high on spec and low on resale value. Burner or something like that. Better still keep an eye on our for sale section.

I have a 9.5* Titleist but its lower launching than you have requested and maybe not ideal... Think my bro may take it too.

I've got an MD Superstong Driver that you can have if you want it. As new and hardly used.

If you really like the RBZ Stage 2, then I'd hold out for that, or look at the Stage 1 - is there much of a difference between the two?

I have the Stage 2 and really like it.

Adams Fast 12 LS w/ real deal Fubuki Alpha (stock shaft) - great ballspeed, great shaft, often for sale at a great price on eBay.

I'm pretty sure you can find callaway octane blacks on e bay for around £50 they have project x shafts and the regular is a bit firmer than most (like you I find some regular shafts, particularly in drivers rather whippy)

Shown how exactly. Just by testing another club. If it was me, by all means try other clubs but how long has your own club been playing up and wouldn't a lesson and even a reshaft into a different stock Ping shaft be easier and cheaper.

Keep an eye out for a 2009 Cleveland Launcher with the red shaft.
The regular red is a bit firmer than the regular gold.
A bit hard to find these days but a cracking driver

I bought a trail driver from the 2nd hand bin in AG for £69. It's still in my bag today and has not been replaced yet. I love it.
