My old shoes have seen better days. Noticed several splits between the upper and sole the other day.
Popped into one of the well known golf stores to view their array of footwear.

Browsed through the Adidas range and tried on several pairs. None really felt "right"
Loked at the Nike range but simply didn't like the lok of them. One of the assistants came over and we got talking. He gave me honest opinions of the shoes on display and eventually directed me towards Footjoy.

I never even considered these shoes, considering them to be out of my price range.
I tried on a pair and found them to be comfortable as slippers. A well made and well finished shoe and made from lovely supple leather. Bracing myself for the shock I asked how much they were. I was pleasantly surprised when he told me they were a penny under £60.

After 5 minutes of parading round the shop in them I decided to take them.
Now the proud owner of a pair of Footjoy AQL's (this years)
Gagging to get out on the course to try them for real. Think I'll save them until tomorrow, I'm watching the golf on Setanta tonight!

QUESTION:
Would it be a god idea to treat them with dubbing/waterproofer before their first use, or are they ok to wear as they are?

Also, anybody else wear them and recommends them?

A great shoe and good value. I've got 2 pairs and a pair of reelfits. A bit of dubbin is always good and will do them no harm.
P.s. Comiserations on the loss of your other foot :(

Dubbin is a no no for any shoe. It blocks the pores in the leather and stops the shoe breathing, it is also believed to eventually rot stitching in shoes.

Normal shoe polish is so so so so so so so so so so so so much better!!!

White or clear ? I've got white and green LoPro's, I always give them a wipe down with a damp cloth after using them, I want to know what's best for protecting the leather and prolonging the life of the shoe ?

Just played a round in them this evening, absolutely marvellous.
At last I've put a few creases across the fronts now. Still, I made sure I got the air gun on the undersides after my round. Put them back in my shoe bag in pristine condition! Lovely and clean waiting for my next round!

Dont leave them in your shoe bag , let them air out.

I got a new pair of these this week but havnt had chance to wear them yet (6 rounds booked this week so they'll get their chance though). Big fan of AQ's , been using them for donkeys years

My feet don't smell that bad JD !!!!

I know what you mean, I intend looking after these babies Unlike previous pairs which were cheapos where you wore them and threw them in the bag until required. I did used to clean them on a regular basis though.

Also helps if you have 2 or more pairs and alternate them , this apparantly gets more life out of them than if you just have one pair and use them all the time.

If you had one pair and it lasted you a year then you would use 2 pairs in 2 years , but if you alternated 2 pairs they would last you 3 years ;)

Funny you should say that, i've just bought 2 pairs of syng-g's. White and brown for the summer and black for the winter, so I will be alternating, but only twice a year. ;)
