Had a great day yesterday - first I had 18 holes with my Dad at Littlestone Warren (nice course - bunkers with *actual sand* in them). Maann those fairways and greens are hard - really difficult to stop the ball. After the first few holes I realised the only way I was going to score was if I chipped-and-run more, and putted from off the green instead of just getting my 58 out like I do at my local club.
My long game was terrible - I think I lost 8 strokes on 3 holes, but I still managed a very respectable (for me) 81, so was well chuffed. Dad played well too with an 82.
After lunch I had a 2 hour lesson with Andrew Jones. Great guy and great coach. We ironed out some problem areas in my swing (pun intended), namely I had too strong of a grip and wasn't releasing the hands properly at impact. Then we went and did a load of holes. Some great insight and tips and I feel like I'm now ready to go to the next level.
Oh, he also sold me his old 54* vokey (still great condition) for a very respectable price, so that solved the gap between my 46* and 58*.
Can't wait to get up the range now and cement the stuff I've learnt.
