Just played a 3 ball with my mate and my brother, at Market Drayton GC. A new course to my brother, and only the second time i had played it.
The rain lashed down the wind blew like a huricane. Finshed the game on 34,35,36 points respectively. Alas i was 3rd (last). Marvelous days golf, if not much marvelous golf played.

A great days golf and have been invited to join the club as an associate member initially, at £499. I am tempted.

Intrestingly though you can hire a bungalow that sleeps 6 from £30 per person per night - with unlimited golf. Normal fees are £25 a round.

what does being an associate member not give you that a full member gets?
Now you see that's just why i come on here - i should have asked that!
The lady said that its a quick way of getting membership - you automatically becoem a member after one year. Same playing rights buit no voting rights - not that i would vote.

My club has a cracking offer to tempt new golfers at the moment. £555 for membership until March 2010 plus a full set of wilsons including bag and a pair of nike shoes! You can even split the cost over the period of the membership via direct debit!

Please join....please

"Drayton" is a well liked course/club in our neck of the woods.

£499 first year (associate) then presumably £499 from then on.
Good deal!

All we need to do is find someone at Mile End and Wrekin and we can all do swapsies on visitor fees.

Currently covering Arscott/Condover/Oswestry/Llanymynech/Chesterton....let's go for a full county bingo.

Where do I sign up?

I've played at Market Drayton a few times (great course) as we've got an agreement in place for free exchange visits. It's due to both clubs being members of the "1906 club" which was open to golf clubs celebrating their centenaries in 2006. There's another 45 clubs which also offer golfing privileges to fellow Club Members, so hop on board and come and visit us here at Wrexham.

I enquired about a similar membership offer at Reigate Hill Golf Club, they call it Flexible Membership. I asked similar questions like what are the differences and basically it meant no vote and no entry to their Major competetions. It did include the monthly medals and stablefords and i could play weekend mornings. They also let you play free golf up to the value of the membership with green fees being discounted. If you went over the balance of £295 you had to top up your account in £100 increments that can be carried over to next year. Basically free golf and free membership. I am seriously considering this even though i am a member at another club already. I wanted to get my handicap sorted at my mother club first though.

Fore,

Reigate Hill is a good track and that seems a pretty decent deal. Mind you have you looked at Leatherhead. Very, very good course and always in good nick. Not sure what the fees are but have a word with HTL. What about Epsom itself although I know you lose the course everytime there is racing on.

As a thought, Banstead did a lot of work to their place a few years back and so that might be worth a look. I use to play that in club matches for Wimbledon Common years back and it was an ok course then

Hi Homer,
i am a member at Kingswood GC. and just about to step up to full membership from Country Club. Been there about 18 months now and love it. I have heard good things about Leatherhead but i live quite close to Kingswood. I was just thinking of Reigate Hill as a second membership as i recently moved to live right next door to the entrance and it could be handy for some twilights and maybe some weekend matches when there is nothing doing at Kingswood. The reason i want to get my handicap sorted at Kingswood first though is that i want it to be my Home handicap. Also, with respect to Reigate Hill, it's not really in the same category as Kingswood. This is reflected in the membership costs.
I looked at the other courses you mentioned but all in all i found Kingswood suited what i was looking for from a club.
