Anyone got any suggestions for a good pencil bag? Am going on hols with the missus soon and want to put the clubs in the car - but obviously the main bag is just a leeeetle too big.
I have one like Homer describes but it's Odyssey - 'practice bag' I think they call it. e.g. http://www.golfgeardirect.co.uk/shopscr1840.html
the legs are short but enough to raise it. Had it as a Christmas presie and very pleased with it - use it summer and winter. Only a small pocket but it will take light pullover or you can tuck a jacket/sweater through the handle. Easy to carry even for a feeble woman.
Thanks folks - a bit of browsing to do now, to see what's what. There's plenty of stuff out there but a recommendation or two is alway worth it to narrow things down.
I have a titleist, that I would consider a little larger than pencil, but by hardly much, and it has a full stand. Quite expensive for what they are, but great for summer rounds in the evening, or travelling.
I have a Titleist x90 bag for the summer and it is great because it has dual straps. Because of this I carry a full set without any bother, even on hot days.
The most useful attributes this bag has are:
1) It can fold up to next to nothing, even fitting inside a suitcase without any problems. The clubs can then be more easily packed in the car boot (in my case).
2) It has loads of pockets, even a soft-lined valiables pocket so your phone doesn't get scratched.
OK, it doesn't have a stand to keep it off the ground but the material seems pretty water resistant.
This has been an excellent and versatile summer bag for me.
