On a similar subject, if I hit a shot not as intended (be it thin, fat, toe poked, sliced, whatever), and my playing partner says good shot, why do they always get annoyed when I say it wasn't?
It sounds ungrateful, but I can't accept praise for a result that wasn't intended, especially as I rarely middle anything, putter included.
If I ever do middle it, they will know from my reaction.
I am preparing a little dance to do on the rare occasion I middle something. I may have a little time yet to practice it.
