I'm just home from a Pro/Am today and I met Damien McGrane. I've been following Damien now (leaderboards) for the last few years. I had seen him at the Irish Open last year but not up close. I arrived today at the course and my mate said to me there is your mate (Damien) on the putting green. So after a while I plucked up the courrage to chat with him. His mother was cadding for him. I just went up to him and shook his hand told him who I was (jack nobody) but he chatted away about golf (well what else really). I was totally surprised when I asked him how many hours did he practice a day. He replyed NONE, not a ball hit, a day off is a day away from golf. I was shocked. He hadn't hit a ball for over a week and went around the course which he had never played before in 2 over (tricky conditions) fast greens and swriling winds.
A very nice chat was had and I'm really glad I went over.
After our round he was in the club house, he spotted me and came over and asked how we had got on.
One word...........Gentleman.............

I was a fan of Damiens before, but now I really am......
