played the finals of our doubles yesterday, been psyching myself up for this all week, couldn't drive straight, couldn't get the pace of the greens, ended up losing 4&3 after being no help at all to my partner.
the only saving grace was that I played some amazing recovery shots (because I had to!), especially one from 30 yards deep in a wood
I play better when I'm blase about it. When you look forward to it too much it often goes pear shaped out on the course, even worse when you have a new toy to play with and expectations are soaring.
Good win beggsy (see even got the spelling right!). I had my normal Bertie Bassett round in the monthly stableford. Out in 21 points (2 over gross - one of those dropped shots a 3 putt) and back in 15. Missed a tiny putt for a point on 13 and then lost a ball on 14 with my only bad drive of the day. Three putts on the last left a nasty taste too but at least I played better than I have for ages. If could have been so much better as I had five chips that hit the flag and all stayed up
