I had my first taste of Pro-Am golf this morning...and what a great morning it was!

Got to Bowood nice and early to be greeted with a pyramid of complimentary balls out on the grass at the range. Loosened up there, had a putt then off to the first tee for our 7.40 start. Really didn't know what to expect and was quite nervous so was pleasantly surprised when the starter announced our names over the tannoy. Easily pleased am I! :D

Managed to get a good drive away which settled the nerves and managed 2 more solid shots, the 3rd being my hybrid which made the green. 2 putts later and I'd parred the 584 yard opener. Chuffed! After that I really relaxed and played some great golf by recent standards - really happy with how I performed as was really worried about hacking it around. Only lost one ball thanks to a top straight into a pond. The only top of the round too! :p

The course was absolutely brilliant and a joy to play, and it was so good watching the Pros do their stuff. Their putting really stood out, especially from distance, as did the accuracy of their approach shots.

The best thing is it's a two day event so we get to do it all over again tomorrow! Off for a siesta now as I'm bushed!! :)

PJ! this is the bloke I was telling you about yesterday who lives in Cirencester if you're looking for a game.

If you're anywhere near Bristol, give me a shout and I'll take you round my goat track.

Siesta done. Hate having to peel my own sweaty face off the sofa! :D

Pro shot 5 over so he wasn't overly happy but there were plenty of bigger numbers on the board by the time we left, including an 85.

Regarding the pressure, I definately felt I had to be on my toes a lot more than normal today but didn't feel as nervous as I thought I'd be given the 'bigger stage', if you can call it that.

Aztecs; I really fancy coming down for a round at yours, it's just a case of finding a free weekend! Mid-late July may work if you're around? Likewise if you or PJ (or anyone else for that matter) want to visit my place!

Late July would suit me down to the ground mate!

The leg is doing great thanks fella. Still gets a bit stiff after a round but hardly noticed today until we'd finished. Think the golf has actually really helped my recovery as its meant plenty of exercise. Even managed a short run last week :D Deffo knocking footy on the head though!

Exactly the same as me my friend....Hasd to knock the footie too....Its a pain in the ass when injury retires you...Ii wanted to play until i was 40 and then call it a day...But my leg had other idea's....I threatened to go back once my leg felt right and even got 6 months of decent training under my belt but only managed 3 games and that was that...

The tendon had repaired longer than it should have so my calf muscle on the injured leg wasnt getting stretched enough and was going into cramp during games putting even more pressure on the achilles again ...

Im 2 years since may just gone after my injury and i still get shitty days with soreness....
But your doing the right thing knocking the ball on the head....
We can just get frustrated now playing golf now instead...
Still it beats going out on a wet cold and windy night training in the muck for 2 hours when you haven't got the choice of staying indoors.... :D :D :D :D
