...to find a course to play on Saturday Aug 27th. Somewhere on the way up from Cheshire to Chorley? Can anyone suggest a decent place to go to. I've been looking around and,,,well can you trust the reviews??? So does anyone on here have any personal experience of a course they can recommend?
 
Would have offered to host mate but we have a comp on that day, as I suspect many other will. Not sure how far South of Cheshire your aim is but Sandiway and Delemere are comfortably the best. Warrington is really good also. A bit further up the M6 Haydock park is a decent knock and Ormskirk is worth the detour from the M6 on the way up to Chorley.
 
Unsure if you'll get any private members clubs without a comp on so you might have a bit of phoning round to do. Your best option might be somewhere like Mere, Portal or Carden Park (Hotel courses)

Mere is a good shout.
 
Try Whitefield, they have their Comps on Sundays so Theres usually teetimes available on Saturdays.
Nice varied course with some great par 3s.
 
Whitefield is a great shout Qwerty, Its a nice little course and yes the par 3s are great.

Its also quite likely that Dunham also have their comps on Sundays so that another option.

One of the best layouts around, but the greens can be hit and miss, saying that one of my mates went last week and enjoyed it, said the greens were better than normal. Like Qwerty says, prepare for a long round. Or get there at stupid o'clock (I used to tee off at sunrise on a weekend when I had a ticket from the council).
 
We won't get there until 11 ish, don't fancy a long round. Pike Fold has raised it's head. T times available and not busy. Anyone been there? (ps i'm on a bit of a golf trip). Dunscar was down to be played on Tuesday but they have a Ladies stableford on ,so I'm hunting for a place on Tuesday as well now. :rolleyes: I'm at St Annes Old links on bank holiday Monday. :D £25 notes as well !!!!!

Enjoy SAOL, they always have the greens and course pristine for the Kilgramol. Sorry, never played Pike Fold. Maybe try Bolton Old Links or Bolton Golf Club. Two nice courses.

Pike Fold is a lovely course.
Apart from the last its relatively flat and easy walking.
Good club house too.
Forgot to add, it is a bit of the main road, trust your sat nav it will get you there :thup:

Played last year with a society do. Lovely course and friendly.
I've had a gander on teetimes and it looks like they have teetimes available from 2 till 3.45
Not the cheapest though mate.:thup:

I've always fancied playing Preston, it looks brilliant, and should be at their prices! 2pm is a bit too late though. I'm looking for a 10.30 ish time.
