We played our 4bbb pairs stroke play invitation comp on Saturday , the H/C allowance was 9/14ths,
Basically to stop anyone above a 18 h/c receiving 2 shots at any hole.

Do any other clubs use this H/C variation ?

I'm sure someone else somewhere will - but that wouldn't make it any more appropriate.

Equally I can't be the only person who feels this whole "no body should ever get 2 shots; high handicappers should be persecuted not rewarded etc etc" approach is fundamentally against the spirit of handicap golf.

But maybe I am.

No you are not!

Well, I hope everyone brought a calculator

They have a conversion chart at the starters desk and the starter writes both gross and playing H/C on the card .

My playing H/C is 17, I received 11 strokes , a 9 H/C is 5.7 playing off 6, a 3 H/C is 1.9 plays of 2.

You've only to read some posts on here to see how many people think that. Sure it's even been posted you shouldn't play on a full course until you're playing off 18:rolleyes:

hands up who didnt get two shots on some holes when they first started.

First handicap 16 which dropped fairly swiftly to 12
