We played our 4bbb pairs stroke play invitation comp on Saturday , the H/C allowance was 9/14ths,
Basically to stop anyone above a 18 h/c receiving 2 shots at any hole.

Do any other clubs use this H/C variation ?

They have a conversion chart at the starters desk and the starter writes both gross and playing H/C on the card .

My playing H/C is 17, I received 11 strokes , a 9 H/C is 5.7 playing off 6, a 3 H/C is 1.9 plays of 2.

No you are not!

You've only to read some posts on here to see how many people think that. Sure it's even been posted you shouldn't play on a full course until you're playing off 18

First handicap 16 which dropped fairly swiftly to 12

My first handicap when I was twelve was 18 that is the highest it's been, so I have never had two shots on a hole.

Me , at my first club in 1981, the maximum gents handicap awarded was 18.
