$800 for a wedge!!!!!

how much for ones that some numpty hasn't drilled a load of holes in?

That's exactly what I thought. Their irons as well. It looks like some prototype somebody put together in a garage. They say the screws are some kind of weighting system, but I think it just looks unfinished. There are a few other very expensive brands out there, mostly Asian ones, and I probably wouldn't spend that much money on their clubs either, but at least they tend to look very sleek and elegant.

I think the words "Clothes", "New" and "Emperor's" spring to mind.
The comparison between cars isn't valid - a trip from A to B in a Bentley is going to be a far superior experience than the same trip in a Ford Escort.
Hitting a PXG wedge won't be much different to any of the other wedges on the market.
Clubs for people with waay more money than sense and/or an ego that needs to be boosted on a regular basis.

Maybe I'm reading this wrong Imurg, but are you saying you have a Ford Escort for sale?

Absolutely - no problem with that.
But why are they buying them..?
They're a "look at me" purchase, unlikely to make them play better

I dont think anything you have said is wrong exactly but I am not sure about the look at me comment. You buy new clubs every time Callaway make them and I know you know they will not be "better" per say. Is that look at me? or is it just, I like to spend money on the thing I enjoy?

I get what you're saying but most of my kit is 2nd hand - apart from wedges and the Epic, which I only have due to the AG double trade in deal.
I'm not paying $800 for a wedge - or £300 for a putter...

Yep, duno where I am going with this... $800 for a wedge is .... a lot!

A lot of this kinda thing is feel good factor, there must be some "look at me" and some "this will change my game".
