7 Iron

without trying so start a completely new debate.homer, you say you use your 7 iron for 140 yards. how come you need so many wedges then? or am i missing something here?

golf clubs are inefective for intruders, you need something short and heavy to clobber them like a half stair rod or something.
For those that do use clubs, do you give a waggle and practice swing first? :D

I have been known to putt with the blade of a 7 iron when I couldn't be arsed walking back to my bag for the putter. Some of the results made me wonder why I go through hell with a putter. :D

As for intruders, I find a US issue night stick just dandy. Hurts like hell when you catch your own ankle bone though.

I use the 7 for normal approaches from 140 yards and to play long pitch and runs that don't get up too high but run. I carry a PW, 52 and 58 at present and use these with 3 swings (7.30, 9.00 and 10.30 on a clock face) to get three known yardages per wedge. This means I can play the best shot for the conditions i.e a low runner in wind or a higher shot with more spin to tight flags and on softer greens. Its called improving your short game and is an area I'm focussing on this year.

I sometimes drop the 5 wood or 3 hybrid and go with 52, 56 and 60 degree lofts if I'm playing a course with lots or rough around the green or with deep bunkers. It just gives me more options.
