5degree difference

downloaded an app on my android and lined up my adress shaft angle at 44degrees and then frame by frame untill my down swing was at the impact position and it was at 49degrees

hand where a little higher and my head raised a bit during my swing

is the angle of the club from address through the swing the reason for my nasty god awful slice?

44 degrees sounds very flat (Thats not the loft is it?). I have looked at the Bridgestone website and iron lies, whilst varying per club, are IRO 60 degrees(?).

Too upright could cause a shot to go left. Too flat and itll go right.

Have you looked at the Ping Colour Code fitting chart? Whilst initially very broad in its recommendation (the lie boared nails this down exactly) it would give you a starting point.
