5 hybrid

Something I've never understood about hybrids.

When looking down on them, I often hear people say it gives them more confidence, than looking down at a long iron.

Really?

Every hybrid I've ever owned has screamed "HOOK" at me every time I looks at it. My 910H sits open so the thought isn't as bad in that respect.

I personally much prefer the look of a long iron at address. I prefer to hit a 3, 4 and 5 iron as, well, what's just what I prefer.

When it comes to not being able to hit clubs, be it a hybrid or long iron, that's when you need a lesson, not more equipment.

Prior to switching to hybrids I used to hit my long/mid irons well... What I have got from the switch is a higher flight which I feel is better for my game... Might have to rethink that should I join a links type course following a move on retirement...

Says the man who's ego won't let him stick with the GI clubs:rofl:

Agree with this.
Why make the game harder for yourself.

God no, not this old chestnut again. Same faces same stuck needle. Let it go. Start looking at everyone else on here of similar ability to me getting similar clubs (Orka, Titleist etc) and yet not a dissenting voice. Just an easy have a pop at Homer (again thread).

I am not knocking them just saying that they are more common with the Older Gent, I might decide to get one in about 30 years time if I feel I am losing distance with my irons.

Think everyone I have played with on the course has a hybrid - majority of pros have hybrids

They are common with all ranges of golfer

Just shows how things are never the same, played today in a sweep where I was the highest handicap and the other guys all played between scratch & 3 and none of them had hybrids in the bag. When I asked them about it they all told me they are not at the stage that they need them yet, now that speaks volumes to me.

They never ruled them out but had no immediate intention on using one, ages ranged from 22-55

I think your just playing with one group and thinking that's the case for all low handicaps, I know two lads who are off +3 and +4 both playing for England and both use hybrids during the year, they use them depending on what course they are playing. Both are in the early 20's. Even some of the pro's I meet at our place are using them all through the winter.

Yeh I think it is each to their own but dot agree that everyone has one in the bag.

I play regular pro Am's and pretty much every pro I have played with has used a Hybrid

Majors have been won by players using a hybrid - young up and coming stars use hybrids , pros old and young ,

Pouter uses a hybrid , so has Rose , McIlroy , Westwood and Donald and various stages , even Woods and Mickleson have.

What does speak volumes is you have a very circular group and have made judgements based on a few people

Some play for money some play for pride.

Also if you are hoking this clubs you are playing like a wood, but despite the looks this is a iron.
