300+. How many of you...

Out on my practice 9 hole course today and hit four consecutive 295 yard drives (albeit wind assisted) on the fairway. Thank you all for you support. ;)
tim, I hit a wedge 175 today on our range, it was blowing a hooly directly down the range. I normally only hit driver 220 so any distances in today's weather conditions should be taken as freak conditions. :D

I think I/we know the answer on both counts !

Oh FFS. This is getting on my tits now. I wish I'd never brought it up. All I ever said in the original thread was that I was amazed how fast the tour pros swing their clubs. Suddenly I'm a liar with zero talent, a rubbish short game, too old, and will never break 10.

I can understand the bitterness. Many of you guys have probably never learned to swing the club fast and are now too scared to try. Instead you're happy to hit 230, content in the knowledge that tour pros are super humans who should never be emulated. If it makes you feel any better, I drive the ball 175 yards.

This thread isn't about you

Read the effin title.

Yep did that and don't see your name on here. Strange as it may seem this forum isn't just about you, your ego and whoppers (thank god or there wouldn't be room for anything else). Funny how you can do it when there is no-one else around but run for cover as soon as ANYONE offers you out either on a course or a range.

In answer to the question, I don't think (to my knowledge) that I do although rather annoyingly I've noticed the right foot starting to slide again (think Greg Norman) which I thought I'd got rid off last year.

LOL Iv hooked a big fat Timmy :D

PS you want my club head speed look in this months mag

How big is your shoulder turn?

Normal range of motion in terms of spinal rotation is between 30 and 45 degrees. So turning the hips is essential.

I agree although 30° is probably pushing it, 45° practically impossible.

Far more likely to cause heel lifting is a limitation in hip rotation, which would mean the leg has to move when the pelvis turns.

Left knee collapsing inwards and/or too much weight on the right side.

I agree, but depends on the source, both of those are from:

Luttgens, K. & Hamilton, N. (1997). Kinesiology: Scientific Basis of Human Motion, 9th Ed., Madison, WI: Brown & Benchmark.

Kind of agree here too, if you can't rotate your hips, your left knee will have to collapse inwards.

If you have good range of external rotation on the left hip, you can turn your hips (pelvis) without the left knee being dragged along and collapsing inwards.

my left foot stays planted to the floor and the knee kinks inwards. My right foot lifts only using my my irons for some reason. When using my driver it somehow shuffles round 90 degrees :D

Is that a golf shot or an audition for Strictly? :o :D

I was wondering why I felt the urge to shimmy off the tee box giving it the jazz hands :D

why do some of you have to slag tim off
if he is bullshitting then he is *** to himself,
if he is telling the truth, is it jealousy
if tim wants to get down to single figure, he will learn he needs an all round game
he spends a lot of time at the range, but quite a few of you do, and you do not get stick for.
pass judgement when he has been seen, not on what you think.
if you not agree with his methods, does not make him a liar.
if some of you are bent on proving him wrong, go to his range/course and take him on, if not wait until you finally meet, then someone is going to have to eat a lot of humble pie
shagster :o :o

Quite an assumption on the distance. I think i said in your first willy wave that i'd guess 8 or 9 on here can hit it it 250 plus, its the consistency element that is difficult to master and good luck to you doing so. My numbers are in the mag with ronnoc (tiger was fortunate to share the issue!) and im not a short hitter as it turns out.

Re the op, i have absolutely no idea, you can bet ill be thinking about it when i'm playing tomorrow now though! Wouldnt have thought it was necessarily a bad thing?

We've offered him a game anywhere and someone offered to go to his range. No dice on either offer. It just makes you wonder what there is to hide. It's easy to say you can hit it 300+ yards dead straight in isolation on a range. Can you do it when it counts?

Personally I don't think his approach will gleam the rewards he hopes especially with age not on his side. Jealousy. Not at all and I'm all for players wanting to improve their golf and doing whatever it takes.

If he is to learn an all round game then the course is the only place to do it and not on the range. I'd love him to prove me wrong and I'd willingly eat large chunks of humble pie if he does and would be the first to apologise for doubting him. However the cynic in me says it's unlikely
