3 irons

just an aside but since you've gone to the good ole US of A your handicap has dropped from 6 (wasnt it) to 2.8 in months. Phenomenal playing, you must love the weather, well done.

Thanks. Actually from 9 to 2.8, not played any comps for over a year back home though and then basically started again by submitting cards for a new handicap. The weather does help though, that lovely 30*+ sun all year round makes this game easier. 😎

But in relation to this thread, the grass is so tough here when you miss a fairway, it makes a rescue club essential or your going to be hacking a lot of 8 irons out.

Jeez Adey, its bloody damp, getting cold and miserable here, stop rubbing it in will you ;)

As for 3 irons, good luck, a 4 hybrid is way easier imho (similar length for me compared to a 3 iron). I gave up on hybrids after losing all confidence got a 3 iron but after a week or 2 I went back to a hybrid and just learned to hit it properly.

I think though with clubs like the new RSI from TM long irons are going to be so easy to hit consistently. Rick Shieks did a video on them and showed how even with miss-hits they still flew really well and lost very little distance.

I don't have one to offer, but I'd recommend the Mizuno fli-hi long irons if you end up still wanting to try one.

Should be able to pick up one of the older ones for £30-£40.

FWIW I hit my hybrid like a fairway wood

Agreed, I have one surplus to requirements, might move it on if your interested Midnight
