3 club comp tomorrow

What is the point of a 3 club competition????

I just cant get my head round why you would want to play golf with three clubs? Why?

For a laugh and a bit of fun?

Oh Hybrid 7i and a wedge of some sort and putt with the hybrid.

Rather a "knob" with a 300 yard drive than a "respected forumite" with a 230 yard drive.

Indeed. You didnt answer on the other thread, what was your score round the course when you reached 300 on a couple of holes?

I had a run of winning the 3-club at Sunbury back in the day and always used 5-wood, wedge putter. Everyone who tried to putt with a wood or other club always blew out.

Although I did see a 24-handicapper make a par 4 on a SI 2 hole with four 3-woods.

I think I would always want to include a putter, good around the green. I would also have a hybrid and a 7i. If an extra club is allowed it would be a driver.

I would aim to avoid bunkers at all costs and chip with the hybrid or putt where possible. A 7i bump and run would do the rest as well as full shots.

It is more then about course management, trying to leave doable shots in rather than leaving ones over bunkers/rough mounds etc.

We had a 4 club comp snowed off a couple of weeks ago. I was planning on using hybrid 3, 6i, PW and a putter.

3 clubs comp I go for hybrid 3, 7i, and putter. Think it would be 3 putt city (at least) if I tried to use my hybrid for putting
