3 , 4 , 5 Wood or Hybrid

But i normally have to go after the 5 wood for this....My 3 wood is too long by at least 20 yards and im not comfortable going down the grip

This is your issue.
You're ditching 2 clubs and buying a new 4 wood (£150), and 2 new rescues (£280) or 2 new wedges (£160)
All for 1 shot when it's not wind against.

If you want my advice...
keep the 3 and 5 wood,
dont have a 4 rescue AND a 4 iron (choose one) and
stick with 52 and 58 wedges.
Have a lesson on the stinger 3 wood shot :)

No-one needs 4 wedges.

4 woods are great. So are 3 and 5 woods. I can't advise you what to do though as I have never seen you hit any of them and have not seen how you manage your way around the course either.

Bobmac's advice seems the most erudite though.

Cheers,

Snelly.

I would rather have 4 wedges than too many clubs cluttering up the long end of my game.

I have carried 4 wedges this season (my first serious season too). I have the PW at 47-(no idea on the bounce), 52-9, 56-13, 60-7.

The 56 is my "bunker" wedge, I find I need the 60 a lot and the 52 is my main chipping club.

I actually carry 13 clubs atm, Driver, 5 wood, then 4 iron down. I find I need to fill that end more but with my budget I cant work out how just yet!

Cheers for the replies and opinions lads. ;)
As i expected everyone is different....

Bob's reply has made a fair amount of sense to me in a way..
I currently use 52,56 wilson staff TW9 wedges so from a 46 deg PW in the new set im sure these would be ok.

Lesson's for me are a Big NO NO at the moment as iv been working for the past few months on a few things with "Justone" over the internet and im happy with the progress that im making...So to get some lessons now i think would just really be ludicrous.

If im honest where i do struggle with my game as im sure alot of club golfers do is inside the 100mtr mark....
Im long off the tee's with either driver or woods, probably more consistent with a wood in hand over the driver.

At the 100-105 mtr my 52 deg is the perfect club for this distance...My putting is pretty good too....If i can tighten my short game some then im confident that ill knock another few strokes off my handicap...

This is why i was confused a little as to the wedge questions.

Hi kid2

you can see my set up below I ditched the 3i/4i for the Cobra hybrids, You will hit the 3h as far as your 5w but is more versatile from difficuilt lies and also generally more consistant.Wether you have a 4w or 3w is up to you but I prefer the 3w as I get less height and more run.

I have four wedges which I know the distances of with a full EEEEEASYYYY swing.
Thats your 100mtres in sorted. From 50 metres in is where it is difficuilt i.e. half /three quarter swings and this comes down to practise and developing those un measurable skills called "feeling" and "experience" and will basically come down to your discipline and commitment to practising this part of your game. I would argue that 60 degree wedges are good for difficult chips where you don't have much green to play with or you are on a firm tight lie and need to nip the ball off the top i.e. with a low bounce angle.
Think we have both followed the same path I can remember you used to have the Di7's same as me and now have the i15's
