Incredibly disappointed that home player (Kelsey MacDonald) has not been selected to play for GB&I in June. She was first reserve at the last outing of this event and I'd hoped she'd done enough to make the team this time around.

The big shock though was the selection of Charlie Hull.

From the LGU website ... "The surprise selection of the Woburn 16-year-old – she had her birthday on March 20 –was confirmed when the Selection Panel overturned its original requirement that the terms of the player agreement to attend the team trial must be complied with."

Anyone following this story would have known that Charlie Hull had received (and accepted) an invitation to play in the US Women's Tour first major championship. The invitation came after she had agreed to the conditions of the selection that she would be at Nairn for team practice which included the final selection process. The two fixtures were too close to each other to allow her to play in both.

Interesting choice of words from the Ladies' Golf Union though in describing the selectors as "the independent Selection Panel". Can't blame them. They must get fed up with being blamed for dodgy selections made by representatives from the four home unions.

Its alright, they wont be missing much. I didnt enjoy the course at all when I played it and didnt exactly hack round it neither. Its rather flat and featureless in my opinion, the lake on the right is too big and easy to hit from the first tee too. Not at all bitter.

I aint played at Nairn but hope to get up for a game with Patrick this summer.

Flat and Featureless a, talking out your****

Patrick wind your knickers in there lad. Did you not read the whole post that you quoted? there was a hint of tongue in cheek there.
I didnt find the course that interesting, I played Spey valley and Castle Stuart that weekend, I would pay to play them again, just not Nairn.
I love links golf, when we played Nairn albeit on a wet day, I played ok on the day but it just didnt do it for me.

Plenty of guys would enjoy my home course, others might well think its not so good, i wouldnt say they were talking out of their ****, its their opinion.

This thread isn't about the course.

Dodger ... that's just it, it wasn't the LGU who selected the team but representatives from the four home unions whom, I think you will find, are indeed "a right bunch of amateurs"!(lol)
