Just had my 1st lesson with my new Pro/coach at The Warwickshire and came away really chuffed.

A new relationship has been born.

Top bloke, really thorough and listened to me and my frustrations.

I hit a few balls on the range outside and then he took me on the Explanar.

Never been on it before although we have one at our clubs Academy where I have spent a lot of money but they never got me on it!

Once on that Explanar it all makes sense and we went back on the range and it was far easier to imagine and concentrate on a new swing plane.

I'm now not over swinging on my back swing, connecting to the ball more cleanly and I even started to go left with a slight draw and not right as a power slice.

Such a difference in just 1 lesson, I can't wait for next week and to put it all into action in my medal on Saturday.

Very Happy Chappy :D

Sounds like you had fun!!!
I was thinking of having lessons as i have never had one.
Explains why im still a 22 handicap really

thats sounds great hope it works the same when you hit the range on your own between lessons and the handicap tumbles as a result.

its a great feeling to see an immediate improvement and connect with the coach.

Make sure you put some work in on the range to work on any drills you've been given and to make the change feel more natural before trying it in a competition

I understand exactly what you are saying but the comps are coming quick & fast every weekend now so very little time to do that, its just feet in Cantonna style for this weekend.

I'll get on the range later today though as I'm supposed to be in a 9 hole shotgun tonight followed by a barbecue but with the rain that is forecast for today (2.5") across central England, I don't think many courses will be open and I can see tonight's and the weekend medal being cancelled if its as bad as the news is saying!

That sounds good and you've done the right thing.
I firmly believe in lessons for me I needed a pro to tell me what to do as I couldn't work out what to do.
I also find its a case of taking 1step back to go 2 forward when you start.
Agree with what has been said you now need to put the work and practice what you've been told.
For me lessons are important because as Butch Harmon said "feel and real" are different. What you think you are doing is different to what you are actually doing, you need a pros eyes to tell you.
It's also important to get a good pro one who really cares and is conscientious and wants to see you improve, as there are a few who just go through the motions.

Cheers, it was the right move at the right time and i think I have fell lucky as my confidence was shattered.

I'm a great advocacy of first impressions and this new coach was excellent and told me things, showed me things and got me striking and swinging better in 1 hour than all the hours and money spent at my club.

OK, every Pro will have their own quirks and styles but this coach got me straight on the Explanar and my club Pro never did!

I think he must want it all to himself
