Just back from my first ever lesson with the pro. What a great experience that was.

Really wanted to work on my woods as that is where I have the biggest problem, usually a fairly big slice with my driver, and dont touch my 3 wood or hybrid.

Started with irons, just swinging before putting a ball in the way. He said think of it as one swing, thats all. Its a 7 iron in your hand, so swing a 7 iron, stance etc all the same.

Went through opening the door to closing the door method. My swing is good, I have a nice plane to it and doesnt need changing at all, which is nice. The backswing is constant so will take care of itself.

The irons were all good, and learnt some great short game chip and run techniques too.

The driving, and wood play was also sorted out too. I tended to come up on my tip toes a lot and when striking the ball I would leave the club face open, so we worked on some methods to get rid of this (close the door as he put it). Bring the right hand over about a foot before the ball and natural draw will be brought to the ball. worked lovely everytime, the earlier I brought the hand over the more severe the draw. Every drive was without slice though, and I mean every drive!! I couldnt believe it. So its down to the range or practice ground to hone that action, make sure I dont put too much draw onto it going forward.

Well worth the money though and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Will definitely have more sessions when I can arrange the time. Would love to play a round with him too.

Off to Portugal in the morning, lets see if the driving works properly :-)

nice one, have booked a lesson for the same reason as hit driver/woods and hybrid to an extent with a big slice.

I always come away from a lesson feeling it was money well spent.

Just remember them practice drills ;)

Going for my first ever lesson on Friday morning. Not really sure what to expect with never having had one but my main concern is getting a consistent shot/shape with it.

Splendid news!

All was going well until you used 'Going Forward'...aaarrrrggghhhh! One of the worst phrases in the world!

Oh, and driving to Portugal may take a while... ;)

Always good when a lesson works. The real test is to keep believing in the changes especially out on the course and using the drills you may have been given when you practice. Stick with it and hopefully it'll slot into place
