1st Broomhandle Major win??

Oh, well I've just have to watch Mel Reid all by myself then Alan.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

It's all been downhill since hickory shafts and mashie niblicks. What tosh 3/4 of us couldn't play the game without club improvements, they are legal so until they are banned if you putt better with them then use one.

Has anyone ever tried using a belly putter or long putter?

I can see where the logic is with them both but they must both be really odd to get used to I'd imagine. Particularly the broom handle one as its such a change from the way you would "normally" putt.

I've tried a Broomhandle and cannot for the life of me work out how anyone can make a putt of more than 3 inches with it!
It just feels so awkward - maybe if I spend a week or two training myself then I'll become a quality putter and get to scratch..... :p

I have tried a broom handle, and from about 10 foot and in it was a lot like cheating. From 30 foot it was a liability.

I putt ok any way, and wouldn't have one in the bag as I would look and feel like an even bigger numpty than I do now.

I can't believe that those putters haven't been banned yet... it needs to be done to be honest.

The very fact that someone can win a major with one only a few weeks after putting one in the bag is just proof of how much of an advantage they give.

I know the argument is that everyone can use them, so whats they problem... but the best putters in the world have spent YEARS perfecting their putting with a normal putter to get it to a world class level, so why would they change? They dont need to! Its ridiculous that players can now compete with them with a putting stroke that theyve learnt over a period of a few weeks.

I bet once the R&A rules committee get some members who dont have the yips themselves making the decision, they will be banned for good.
