14th Club Dilema

In my bag the current set up that I have is:-
Driver
3-Wood (15deg)
3-Iron utility (20deg)
4-PW
52Deg Wedge
58deg wedge
Putter

This is thirteen clubs and I have a dilema on whether I put a 64deg wedge for the shots over bunkers or over trees with very little green to work with in my bag OR a 2-Iron Utility Cobra Baffler (18deg) which i am considering buying (old model from Direct Golf £69) to bridge the gap between the 3-iron and 3-wood. Bearing in mind that I hit my 3-iron 200yrds and the 3-wood 235yrds.

On both of these I could either choke down on a 3-wood to give me 215-220yrds or I could open the face of my 58deg wedge.

Bridge the gap OR fly them high?

64 degree wedge, catch yourself on.
A good 5 wood is what you need, or if you dont think your game is suffering too much, dont add a 14th.

Bin the 64deg Wedge.

Go for the 2h or as Brendy says a 5W. Depends on what you feel more comfortable with. I struggle with fairway woods of the deck so i went for a 2h

A 58 wedge is more than enough to get you up over trouble , you certainly dont need the 64. Think about your course and the times you've thought you needed a different club to play a particular shot. That will tell you what you need.

I only have 13 clubs in my bag and cant think of a time I needed a club for a shot I couldnt play with the ones i've already got

I'd get rid of the 58* wedge too.

Put in a 56* and a 60* so you have a nice spread across the scoring clubs.

I have:

Driver
3W
5W
3 hybrid
4 iron to PW
52 degree wedge
58 degree
putter

Depending on conditions I'll drop the 5 wood or hybrid and go with a 52, 56 and 60 degree wedge set up

I think a "strong" lofted 5 wood or a 2 hybrid would be the weapons I'd look at

I would definitely consider a 5 wood. It depends on the course you play of course, but I find myself needing mine all the time during rounds and would not be without it. A 64* wedge should be considered a health and safety hazard.

I have the 52, 56 and 60 wedge option. I find it really useful, the 60 for in greenside bunkers. The 56 for around the green and the 52 for and 100/110 yrd gap. I don't carry a 3WD, so I can do this, but if I did I would drop the 60.

I only carry 13 clubs

Changed my 3 wood to a 17 degree 4 wood which fills the gap nicely

Driver
4 wood
21 degree hybrid
4-pw
52 & 56
putter

Thats plenty for what i need on most course's i may add a 60 as and when

If you where adding a 4 or 5 wood may come in handy although you might be over headcovered up and have too many choices, try and keep it simple

In my eyes, if you are allowed 14 clubs then use the allocation.

I actually have an old Ram 5-wood which I hit very well indeed, I've just thought of updating this and have heard a lot of good things about the Cobra Baffler.

In respect of the 64deg I think that you are all right and it would be a good idea to ditch this. My playing partner has one too and he uses it far too much, especially when he has loads of green to work with.
