Well, i have been playing golf for about 9 months and feel like this summer should be fun to get alot better and start to really improve. Hit 100 at Mill Ride Ascot (tricky) yesterday and that was with a poor front 9.

I target 96 to 98 next round as i feel i left a few shots out there and i am still improving alot each round, is this a good target?

Also if i was to playa round 96-100 what would be my handicap, and would i even get a handicap with this??

Thanks

You'll get a handicap. When I started I couldn't break 100. Submitted 3 cards none broke 100 and got assigned a 21 handicap. Now shooting in the mid 90's and threatening high 80's at time so things are looking up!

Shooting 100 , assuming the course is a par 72 course would give you approx 28 hcp

Shooting 96 would equal 24 hcp

However you need to enter 3 cards at the same course to get a club hcp so this could vary your result if you had between 96 and 100

I wasn't sure if that would be the handicap because i heard you shouldn't be playing to your handicap every round, should still be a good round to get par/under par. Maybe i am wrong

3 cards over 100 and hcp of 21 that seems low to me, is that correct ??

Well doen anyway as 21 is a good result starting, maybe you had decent cards with a few high scores, they stop counting at double bogey

On my club site you can look up handicaps of members and there cards, i guessed i would be about 24 looking at others. David Seaman and Glenn Hoddle on there haha

Don't forget that holes are capped at double bogey for handicaps, so your 100 is probably closer to a 96 for HCP purposes. If SSS is 72 then that would see you looking at a 24.

That's what I thought. I put it down to having scored well at some of the lower index holes and lost most of my shots at higher index ones. I also think they give a lower H/C due to a lot of people submitting 3 low cards and then winning the first comp they enter with stupid points.
