10.5 loft or 8.5 loft Driver

I played 8.5 for the last 20+ years, never consistently successful.

Just bought a cheap mizuno 10.5* mp630 ft which is easier to hit, remember that any driver that is 1* open at address has effective loft 1* less ie my 10.5* has effective loft of 9.5* so to answer your question yes it's easier to hit

Used to have a 8.5* Taylor Made 580 with a Stiff Grafalloy Prolite shaft.
I now have a 9.5* Taylor Made 425 TP with the same shaft.
The 8.5* 580 had a much higher flight than the 425,the shafts were identical so i'm assuming the internal weighting of the head was responsible for the flight characteristics.

The TM 580 was quite shallow face, thus had a higher flight than the deeper faced 425
I once had the TM 540, in the same range as your old 580, think there was a 510 too......

Is there a big difference between hitting the two Drivers ??????

If the heads are the same, he 2* is right. Several brands 'lie' about the loft -ego still sells! And I have a 9* G15 and an 8.5 FT3 and 7.5 Cobra!

Loft is generally a good thing. Most golfers would benefit from shorter shafted, higher lofted Drivers, at least for accuracy.

i have an 8.5* callaway driver. im not accurate enough to use it though. its too wild (or i am). can get some good distance out of it when you do catch it. i can actually duff it, which i will never do with my 9* taylormade. so to answer you question, yes it makes a big difference.

Most people play with drivers that don't have enough loft on them. There is always a bit of a macho thing with them - that they should be as low lofted and as stiff a shaft as possible. If you don't have enough loft, the ball does not get airborne enough to get the backspin it needs to achieve its maximum potential carry. You then lose distance. The majority of players require at least 11 deg of loft on a driver.

I like a bit of loft on my driver to give me more confidence. Looking down at an 8 degree driver face would bring on the slices no problem.
My own preference is for 11 degrees and I would be looking at the shaft more closely if I wanted a lower trajectory.
Just my own thoughts which could be total cock.
