Can 1 degree of loft on a driver really make that much difference.
Specifically in my instance.....
I took my Ping i15 9.5 my wedges and an old Mizuno MP560 10.5 degrees that my younger brother used to use....

Stock stiff shaft on the Ping and Stiff Aldila NV Green on the Mizuno.

Dispersion wise on good hits i reckon the Mizuno was a fraction tighter but not as long as the Ping.
Bad hits with both were punished with direction and distance....Pretty normal i suppose....
Funnily i seemed to get more height with the Ping for some strange reason!

Now its no secret that my driving is pants lately but after a bit of fiddling with my address i was hitting it half decent at times...Still not 100 percent though....

Apparently it's all to do with the kick point of the shaft.
I can't remember all of it so google it for more info.
It made a huge difference to me, I used to balloon my Ben Hogan 9.5 regular shaft driver and with my Nike 9.5 voodoo stiff shaft I keep it low and about 30 yards longer.
I think there is a thread on here with it on already.

1 degree CAN make a difference but in reality it won't. The shaft will have more of an effect. Maximum distance is achieved through a combination of launch angle and spin. Optimum launch angle is typically around 13-14 degrees and spin around 2500rpm but these varying depending on ball speed.

If you had 2 identical drivers but with 1 degree difference, I expect you would see a difference of maybe 8-10 yards between them but I wouldn't like to say which would be longer, it depends on too many other factors.

Hey Kid,

To cover your question first my buddy just got fitted for a full set of Ping. He was using a 10.5* burner and they fitted him for a 12* G20. He has a shocking swing but with this 12* he does not miss a fairway. Don't get me wrong, I could hit my 7 iron to the same spot but you can see the driver forgiving the swing, it's pretty mad to watch.

Moving on, you a good player but this is your millionth driver post, how bad are you with the big stick? What's the bad shot and what's the good shot? Your a big lad arent you? Does your driver go long? Do you think it's a commitment issue? Must be time to post a video!

In navigation a 1 degree difference in course makes a difference of 1 mile in position after travelling 60 miles so scale it down from there?

Surely playing off 16 you dont expect too much in the way of consistency, I would have thought that a higher loft would make you a little more accurate (as you seem to imply here).

? does that not equate to 1 yard in 60 yards, therefore a 200 yard drive would be approx 3.5 yards off line (per degree of difference) ?? I think
