    Speith V Woods

Both memorable for different reasons, both equally enjoyable viewing for me. Not wishing to start a separate debate but I was again I bit disappointed with how quickly Rory let his head go. He is pure talent in my view but he gives me the impression that he loses his focus very quickly when...

Sticking with your putter through thick & thin

If money was no object id probably dabble a bit with the latest models but Ive only really had 2 putters, first eventually broke after about 10 years. 2nd was a cheap ebay purchase that I twiddled with so that it had a similar feel and weight to the first. Had some great putting with both so my...

    Dreadful short game - Help!!

Best tip for chipping/pitching I ever got was to get a lesson on the basic techniques then practice until you have some consistency, then, and here the important bit, during a round forget about the techniques completely and think only on the flight/roll of the ball you want. let your muscle...

    Par 3s... Brain v Brawn?

I'm a big believer in generally ignoring SI for stroke play events and playing every hole as I find it but I would say that SI can have a huge part to play on par 3s in match play and stab events as id hate to be giving a shot to an opponent on a 200+ par 3 as its would be an easy 4 for them yet...

    Par 3s... Brain v Brawn?

I think there is a place for both short and long on the pro scene but it just seems wrong to be asking the average club playet to be hitting driver/3 wood on a par 3. 200/210 is a sensible limited in my view for the club golfer in normal playing conditions. I see this length as a short game...

    Work it!

I feel that shaping the ball narrows the margin for error greatly. Lets say that your very worst shots is either a 50yard slice or a 50yards hook and it could be either on any given hole. so if you aim down the middle of a 70-80 yard wide hole either bad shot will put you in trouble costing...

    Work it!

I was told a few years ago that trying to shape the ball was the best method of ensuring its not going to go the other way. I use this advice on almost every shot. Im not really looking to move the ball but rather stop it moving in one particular direction. Does no one else do this? Id be...

    Work it!

Play of 11 and attempt to shape almost all my full shots. A perfectly shaped shot is rarely the outcome but the misses are far less severe. Ball moves in intended direction around 60-70% of the time id say, the amount it moves is a lottery though.

If a cat has 9 lives.....

Had a ball cut a 5 wood shaft clean in half right at the top of my backswing! The look on my partners face who wasn't far away told me how close it had been.

    Xmas Sales Post

For any one interested you have to get to the very end payment screen to see the discount. £5 postage to add. Ive got a order received notification but have in the past received "out of stock" emails a few days after order with these kind of things. Fingers crossed.

Hit possibly my worst ever shots today...

Seen very simlar thing, playing partner hit red marker, ball goes a good hundred yard behind us all. Started as a 500 yard par 5 now its a 600 yard par 4! Oh we laughed! 3 of us did anyway!

Agree fully, he knows his stuff. Ive been working hard on a few changes with a local pro and the fundamental issues are what the coach spotted from a very rough 10 second video.

How Far Do You Drive The Ball?

Normally about 6 miles. And if im hitting it well 6 miles back! Ive never been one for getting hung up on distance as im sure im pretty average 230-270 total. I take the attitude that when the card has room to note down how far im hitting my shots I'll start worrying about it.

Poulter - Play him again before Sunday?

We never know. Maybe when its all over Rory may make another honest but misguided comment about what he thought of his partners contribution this morning.

Poulter - Play him again before Sunday?

Poults is a ryder cup hero and brings a lot more than just his points taly to the team. Saying that however he can be up his own backside at times at that will always attract the hater. I can tolerate his style when he adds something to the team but at presentI see him being the weak link in...
