I haven't played Addington Palace but my former coach from Pitch is now head-pro and he is fantastic, I believe he's installed a golf simulator and completely redone the pro-shop. I would thoroughly recommend him as a pro, cannot comment on the course unfortunately.
We had it on yesterday and did a Sunday roast - clubhouse was full, anyone not booked for the lunch had to sit outside. Fortunately there was a TV outside too
I've played in a good few of their Singles events and I don't have any complaints. I nearly always book early or when there's a discount on.
I'm playing 4 days in Fife next year (Dunbarnie, Leven, Scotscraig and Ladybank) for £249 - so quite the saving.
Don't have any Singles in the calendar...
We had ours last weekend, was a bit short of numbers this year.
Three divisions playing 36 holes in one day
Div 1 - 10 HI and below - Gross and Net winner & 2nd place
Div 2 - 10.1-22 HI - Net winner & 2nd place
Div 3 - 22+ Stableford - Winner & 2nd place
Then there's a Ladies and Gents...
I bought one last summer after using a Garmin Fenix 6 and wanted to get an actual Golf Watch. I was very disappointed and ended up sending it back.
The GPS was slow (both watch GPS and connected to the phone) and sometimes wouldn't update at all - i'd be walking down the fairway and the...
My club offer to pay in full, two payments or monthly, though you pay about £50 more for the monthly payment option. All done through the club and standing orders.
We had ours recently - it was very mixed from the field.
i took 3w (off the tee and long fairway), 7i for anything 3w was too long for, Approach Wedge (49deg) and putter.
It was either going to go amazing or terribly - it was the latter but good fun.
Had this chat with my coach last week. He suggested a harder ball for Winter. I usually play Titleist Velocity or TP5, he said I should stick to Velocity's for winter - shot one of my best rounds last week so must be working.
I don't think LSGC hire the Polo's anymore - i think you have to buy one (probably for this reason).
I remember when Erik Anders Lang came to play and video for Skratch e he bought one (though if you watch the video it looks like the club gave it to him).
WCGC definitely hire out waterproofs...
"It is a local rule that all golfers on Wimbledon Common must wear plain pillar-box red coloured tops, to make them more visible to other users of this public land. We can provide these for sale, or for hire..."
I don't know of any other clubs that have a Local rule regarding the colour of...
More London than Surrey/Berkshire but I don't know anywhere that plays as well as Wimbledon Common in the winter (reason i moved here). Even as a member i squint at the £40 weekend green fee.
Played out there a few times, non of the courses are budget-friendly really, unless you go for one of the Par 3 courses at Emirates for example.
Jebel Ali at JA resorts is a bit cheaper but i think it's only 9-holes (not played there).
Best bet is to download the Viya app they have some...
As someone who used to have a Garmin (Fenix not golf specific) I tried Shotscope v4 and couldn't handle the hour I had to spend post round adjusting things - particularly scores and penalties. I tried the Tag Connected Golf - not worth the $2000 price tag, the GPS was awful and would jump around...
Our course has only recently started opening on Bank Holidays, so not unusual for it to be closed. However Lady Captain's update yesterday said the course would remain closed, but the clubhouse open for anyone to watch the funeral together. Personally, I'd have felt a bit odd playing at the same...
