Are you as surprised as me,and Taylormade about
White clubs?.
It seems after the success of the R11 its here for a while,or maybe forever.
What are your thoughts?

I'm not a fan to be honest.

Don't get me wrong, I like the look of the clubs, I just don't think they'll age well and maybe look old (Battered, discoloured) before there time.

we'll have all different bright colours in coming years... orange, dayglow yellow, purple with pink spots...

There is certainly some truth in the fact that the white stands out against the colour of the grass, but I'd say it's more marketing gimmick designed to sell more clubs than it is revolutionary club design.

I agree completely. A gimmick to generate $$$. That said, they are certainly the most popular driver on tour and are used by players that don't have a TM connection.

I might get one in about three years when they are in the bargain bin...

Three years? Why so long?

I think it is nothing more than a marketing gimmick, a fad that will pass once "the next revolution" comes.

I have a white TM Ghost putter, which I love. As Homer says, they make it really east to lien up putts.

However, I am not a fan of white drivers! I am in the market for one now and kind of hoping that the R11 doesn't turn out to be the best perfomer when I test a few.

I have to say, in woods, they just look a bit vulgar. Think they remind me of spivvy footballers in white boots?

I am an uttter snob and hypocrite, I know. :o :p

If that had made the R11 in black and white I wonder how many white ones would have sold?!

Ihave a white TM rescue club. Must admit I find it strange when I use it. But as people have said they are much easier to line up. So no I dont think its a Fad. But do prefure Black. Just looks more normal to me. Also I can not Stand all these drivers with fancy multicoloured soles for some reason.

I know TM change clubs like the weather, however you have to say there innotive approach has certainly paid dividends this time.
Marketing Genius.
Also it seems that the R11 range has proved a massive hit,and it does perform, which of course is the key.

I had a game with a guy in an open N.Ireland this summer, he was a professional paint sprayer and had done his woods (titleist) in some really bright colours which looked fantastic. Im not sure it would be for me as I really like the look of the all black driver.

Shame liking it doesnt make it like me

I honestly think the white thing was a marketing ploy. TM drivers are the most popular on tour however on telly you rarely see the caddy take the club out the bag with the headcover to identify the brand. You just see the player waggle it.

When you've got players like Donald etc using your driver you want people to know about it not think it's a mizuno club. By making their drivers white it is now clear to everyone just how many professional golfers use a TM driver.

Personally I like the white. I've got an R11 3W and love it. In fact I'm looking at trying out the 5W version very shortly. For some reason I get a confident feel from it, now whether that's to do with the white or not I couldn't say. Gimmick or not, TM have produced something there that gives me that extra bit of confidence and to a guy of my ability, that's very welcome! :)

Apart from the 5W which I know I will buy, when I look at changing my driver, along with the usual suspects I'll defo be demo-ing the R11 driver.

Well according to the TM Head Honcho, White is the "BEST" colour for a driver.
So TM won't be making anymore black, grey or any other colour drivers for a long time yet.

I don't like the looks, never have. I've had a hit with one and you can't fault the performance, but I couldn't look down on that head 10-11 times during a round.
I also reckon they won't wear well. Even a slightly abused black driver still looks ok after many years, I doubt the R11 will unless it'a been handled with kid gloves - and Aztecs hasn't got any of those... :D :D

Have to say the white putters do seem to make a huge difference in helping with alignment.

I am very skeptical about this. How precisely?

It stands out so well against the turf, it just seems to be a clearer view of the leading edge and the alignment lines are ultra clear, black on white. My model, the Corza Ghost, has a hole cut into the mallet, giving it a similar effect to the Odyssey 2-ball alignment.

I would never say equivocally that it's better, will work for everyone, or is anything more than a psychological effect, but it works damn well for me :D
