I'm in the market for a new putter and instead of me trying ever single putter on the shelf, I thought it might be of use for myself (and anyone else looking for one) if you could let me know what putter you use and how it feels off the face, how it rolls etc.

Just though it might help me out in trying to find the magic wand which has escaped me ever since the day I started playing golf!

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

Rife IBF Aussie Mallet. Slight toe bias weight, serrated milling to the face which provides a good solid contact but allows retention of a bit of feel for distance control.
Easily one of the best putters I have used.

Have 2 putters and like both, Seemore Big FGP mallet centre shafted and a Scotty Cameron Newport 2.6 centre shafted, neither putter has an offset and although vastly different in terms of balance, I get on with both.........for now.

GreginFife: Is that the Rife with the rainbow effect on the head or the standard metal?

Homer: What bias is yours? I've toyed with Odyssey before but I find the face a bit to soft on some of them, this is why, in the other thread, I was interested in yours being a firmer face

It's plain black. Not one for these fancy colours. My playing partner bought the Abuco Tropical that was for sale on here and the finish is a bit garish for me.

Cleveland classic no2... No frills cheap putter with no insert. Rolls well feels nice and a steal at £50. Picked mine up in a pro shop new for £30 without even hitting a ball with it... Was at the end of the road with my odyssey marxman and just wanted to try something different that didnt cost much.

Had it a year now and no turning back.

Ping Nome- fantastic
TM Vicino Spider- wonderful
Scotty Cameron Hollywood- lovely sound and feel

Thanks for all your views. Find it funny how people have so many different putters with varying price tags, just proves if it works it doesn't have to be the most expensive one!

Virtuocity: I have enough 3 putts at the moment, so don't need a putter that promises that at the moment. As a matter of interest what are you selling at £30?

I've seen a few people using the Odyssey Fang putter (the one Donald uses) Has anyone used one of these, if so what did they think?

TM Rossa Daytona Ghost. Love the shape of the head and the white finish. Black centre line makes it easy to line up and I love the soft roll insert, took a couple of rounds to get used to it but I'm a fan of it. Not a fan of blade putters so went with a white TM and never looked back. Not had any thoughts to change in 18 months but my last 2 rounds of putting ain't been great so watch this space.......

I don't mean to be blunt, but that is exactly what you should do.

Putters and 'feel' are highly individual and will invariably be different person to person.

I myself have a Scotty Cameron Del Mar that, to me, feels like butter off the face. Some folk on here find them numb.

It's well worth spending an hour trying a few different models off the shelf in the shops and, ideally, have a measure you up for the right length, and if you fancy, correct head type.

I understand where you're coming from. I find it good to get views from other people, because if people keep on saying the same thing about a certain putter I'll either be wary of it or give it a go.

Aside from that it's a good thread to see what people are using

Odyssey No.7H White Hot Tour over here -the goldy bronzy Fang one!
Larger head than the standard No.7 and a firmer insert.
Does the job for me - although I'm not putting too well at the moment.

Makes scooping up the ball when you blob a doddle!

I have one of these. Had it for about 6 months now, bought it to replace my 2 ball that had stopped working after 7 years loyal service. "The Fang" is good, it helped me to get 5 birdies today in the monthly stableford, (four of them were in a row). However, it does feel a little soft off the face if you use a premium ball. I do prefer this soft feeling though when I am putting.

TM Vicino Spider- wonderful

I've played one round with the man and he holes the world with this thing!

I've just got a Cleveland Classic Collection 5.5. Centre shafted and a bit heavier than my other putter.

The afore mentioned 'other' putter is a Scotty Cameron 1.5 Studio design which is currently having some time out after a good 8 years service.

I find the Cleveland gets the ball rolling with a bit more top spin and is more forgiving on strikes which aren't right out of the centre. It might be a bit heavy for our greens in the Summer as they are rapid, but for now, seems to be working fine!

Scotty Cameron Newport 2. I love it, you might not, which is the thing with putters. I know it's good to get opinions but in reality when buying putters, the only important one is yours. For example, you will find a lot of people who swear by putters with inserts, I absolutely hate them.

This thread will give you a list of great putters as long as your arm, but you're gonna have to try them anyway and it is better to try them all with an open mind, not one clouded by someone else's opinion.

I've now got 2.

Had my Ping G5i since time began and never thought I'd change it but, I cut it down and put a fat grip on it and now I can't feel a thing and lagging so many putts!

Bought a Cleveland Classic No1 yesterday on impulse as just got on with it for the brief time on the shop carpet so that will get a run out today in our Extra Medal. Fingers crossed ;)
