Your own personal highlight on the course?

With regards the OP, my personal highlight was winning an 18 hole board pairs competition with my dad in the late 90's. As I only get the chance to play with my dad a couple of times a year nowadays it was very special...the fact I carried him for 17 holes still gets brought up from time to time...

Feels like I've had a lifetime of great experiences already so consider myself very lucky..

Couple of times stand out such as the first time I took my lad (8 at the time) out, some great partners in big finals (who bailed me out of some tough positions), playing Lytham late one evening with no one else on the course, an unofficial course record but the one which stands out was winning our scratch cup with the first under par score in it's long history. There are some great local names on the board to go with the scores and to see mine up there is still amazing.

Hopefully the best is still to come but can't complain so far

I am sure the members were very happy for you

It didn't help as we were one of the early groups out and after I had entered the scores into the computer a few mentioned it when they had a gander who was winning. It was one of those days where bad shots were somehow rewarded and chips off the green justed rolled in. My banditry was however brought down to earth the week after in the Texas scramble when I did hack around the course to the utter dismay of the guys who were slating me the week before.

I won the club Christmas Texas Scramble last year in the only 3 ball against the rest of the field of fourballs, It was me and two Cat 4's and I (and probably the other two as well) played just about the best golf of my life and we finished 5 under par gross to win handsomely after handicap taken off, just the best feeling going up to collect that prize!

Would have to be winning the GM Centenary Qualifier at St Pierre and then finishing runner up in the final to a slippery Irishman. After that the KoK qualifier last year was good, especially hitting the long 17th in two

We were stood by the side of the green. Maybe 5 feet off it, looking for chrisd's ball. We found it, and were walking back on when homer hit. It was scary :o

Does sound a frightening experience

Can see how it could effect you on a golf course - scared every time you walk onto a course must be hard to deal with :o

Time tends to blur events but after some intensive counselling I feel I am ready to return to the course again after than 'near miss'. It all happened so quickly, especially the green pen work.:o

Just remember to think of all the good progress made when it comes to the yearly anniversary - you have done so well to return to the course that we wouldn't like to see a relapse :o

Whilst we were still putting out:o

Your finest hour :(

Still around I see, im sure you rememberer one of our many triumphs on the golf course together:

It will take me a long time to forget my match winning 155 yard 6 iron up the 18th at Blackmoor to 4 inches and to clinch the match for therod and I against Swinger and Richart.

No better place to hit a shot like that!

Might be a little too far back for Richart to remember though :o

I do remember, though I'm sure the Match was won by then. You just delivered the cous de gras:)

You'll have to forgive Rich, he's probably forgotten. He's had a few more matchplay disappointments since then

Playing a club 4BBB knockout match against the club champ and his Dad a 5 handicapper. We're one up one to play on 18, my partner's out of the hole and i drive into a fairway bunker about 150 to go, knowing in my head i need to make par as minimum to stop it going down the nineteenth. It's windy and i hit a really good 6 iron into the wind onto the front of the green leaving a very difficult 2 putt to win after both our opponents had tap in pars. Left myself a three foot left to righter and holed it. Nothing spectacular to some folk maybe but for me the heat was on and I stepped up. My best golf feeling ever so far and great to turnover the the club champ too.

A couple of years ago playing a competition using persimmon woods, old blades and the old small golf balls. Fairway bunker with 188 to the pin and hit a 2 iron to 6 feet. The topline on the 2 iron was so thin I could have shaved with it but it somehow looked more appealing than the very ropey looking 5 wood. I could have stood there forever and would never have repeated it, missed the put but it didn't seem to matter.
Huge respect to the golfers who used to play with this equipment at the time.

In my early days playing in a corporate day at Holtye. Sliced tee shot into the woods - hack out across the fairway into trouble the other side - hack out - holed 9 iron in front of the watching crowd. I still have the sweater I was awarded for "shot of the day" with the 9 iron! (I kept very quiet about the 3 preceding shots....)

Theres been a few but one sticks in the mind for me due to the situation.

It was at my old club and it was captains day round 2 on the Sunday. I was in 3rd or 4th last group after the Saturday round and was well in with a chance. Starts off playing pretty solid and was going along quite nicely. There is always plenty of people knocking around who have finished or watching etc and reports were the leaders were melting badly. We get to the 16th which is right next to the clubhouse and there is quite a crowd gathering by this stage and they were all asking how everyone was doing and i had 7 shots left which people couldnt believe. Anyway hit my tee shot on 16 down the middle in front of all the watching people to cries of "bandit" etc :D.

After bogeying 16 & 17 the fun starts on the 18th. Hit another good tee shot down the middle but push my second down the right into the trees. This left me needing a big fade to get it round the trees and onto the green. At this stage i know i need to go for it to have a chance to win. I hit the ball trying to fade it and it starts off well and looks good but keeps fading, fading, slicing and at this moment it clicks on that theres a crowd of people on the practice green to the right waiting for people playing up 18  all 3 of us are screaming fore and theres people all over the place and im thinking **** me thats out of bounds. Then there seems to be a bit of a debate going on with loads of people looking down at the ground so with no sign if its in or out. Luckily the signal comes that the ball is in bounds so relief, for now. Gets up to my ball and its in bounds by about a quarter of an inch but in a tiny little plant/tree thing

After a few minutes deliberation which is a long time for me i decide i just have to destroy this little tree/plant thing with my shot and goes for it and it comes out lovely and ends up about 6 feet away which was a great result with the flag on the right of the green. All the people on the practice green were clapping and cheering :whoo:. Stepped up and sunk the putt to more cheers which felt great even though in the end was only for 2nd place. It was just one of them great golf moments that a lot of people remember not just me, when i got presented with second place at the evening do the captain made a bigger fuss about that than the guy who won
