Your highest Stableford points score?

We are in complete agreement. Cheers.
I'm all for players shooting great scores & getting their handicap cut...that's the point is it not?
It's the players who maintain a handicap well within their talent who wind me up.....shooting scores in the high 40's and up......WTF??

Some of them were done in winter conditions with a shortened course and don't forget that there are courses where 40 points is "playing to handicap".

43 points (off 5). My best ever round in a comp (68 gross, 2 under).
Once had 50 in a 4BBB. Partner birdied 17 for a nett eagle and I then holed my second at the par 4 last (nett 1) ..... what you may call a decent finish!!

Personally I'm not tring to go far...just make a honest comment. Hitting a high stb score when just starting out is quite normal. But playing off 11/12/13 or there a bouts and claiming 5/6 under gross either is false or the player is off the wrong handicap. Likewise points in the 50's off a real handicap ...is that even possible?

I'm in total agreement, good post and welcome to the forum.

So the better players (single figures) aren't allowed a day out then?
I have shot several rounds with 5-6 birdies in them ) a couple were 9 holers comps too!), also threw in an 8 or a few doubles. Does that mean I am not allowed to take the winners prize?
Can I repeat it day in day out? can I bugger. I would prefer to get beaten by a good player having a one off game than a 28 handicapper chopping it round under par net.

yep so would i , best score 50 points , been playing a month then

43 playing off 12,
It was a strokeplay comp and won by 3shots...net63 :D

Longing for the day when i have a repeat performance, cause it will mean i broke PAR

Like I said, my 46 pointer was a good few years ago, whilst my handicap was tumbling down from 23 to 10 in a fairly short space of time. Despite that particular round only being a "friendly" the assistant pro concerned marked my card and I handed it in to the Secretary at Crowborough for handicap consideration. Please don't be so quick to condemn mid handicappers who have a particularly good round as "bandits". When I ran a large society, one guy who used to attend regularly never got more than 28 points and never figured in the frame....until we played Copthorne one year. He scored 50 points and was so apologetic. He couldn't do anything wrong that day and not one of the other society members called him a bandit because they knew that he had never scored anything like that before. We were all really chuffed for him. Every dog has his day. It's the ones that go out regularly and "expect" to score 40 points as a minimum with anything less being a bad round who are the bandits.

Joined my club late in 2008 given a handicap of 24.
Chopped about all of 2009 got down to 17 playing in every Medal and beaten 2 & 1 in the C championship finals.
Played the winter league (badly) was getting real cheesed off then rocks up at the winter open March 2010 playing the full course 6404yds - bang 46 points.

My rise to golfing greatness as somewhat stuttered since! Medal win and a few seconds since.....maybe Something to do with having young kids and getting married in August 2010!!

Every dog is allowed his day. Yes high handicappers who are coming down quickly, low handicappers shooting scratch or better. This all happens and are different categories altogether. You mention a society member coming in with a great score after many tries.....good for him I say!
But how many times did someone bring a mate who said he was a bit "rusty"....stick me off 18 ....and then scoops the lot. And 51 off a 9 .....open qualifying starts soon !!!!!
I mostly play with mates and there is always money out there.......anyone with a bandit handicap doesn't get a look in.
When playing in comps I also expect/hope to score in the 40's or close to scratch......more often than not I'm commiserating missedcputts and bad lies in the 19th with a cold beer.

Nov Stableford 46 (28hc) cut to 24
Dec Stableford 43 (24hc) cut to 22.4
Jan Stableford 45 (23hc) cut to 20.5

If those 3 scores had been in January, February, March this year, I reckon that the new ESR (Exceptional Score Reduction) would have you by the short and curlies.

I estimate that the first 2 scores would have been an additional chop of 2 and the 3rd another 1 - so an additional 3 shot chop. It looks as if CONGU introduced ESR just for you.

Utter nonesense. Ive hit 45, 46 and 48 points. Ive also hit 20 odd a number of times.
When a golfer is practising alot to try and get their handicap down and it all clicks for a round then why not shoot these scores on occasions. You may get a big cut but then again Ive shot within a few weeks a +3 then a +21 on the same course! This is how a golfer gets a better handicap by shooting a lower score!

Was Tiger Woods a Bandit / bullsh1tter when he won by 15 shots?! :whoo:

Wow using the worlds greatest ever golfer to make your point. True he obliterated the field those 4 days. However he did this averaging 39.75 stbl points over the tournament ...certaintly not banditry neither bullshit. This all helps reinforce my argument that high 30's and low 40's are within the realm of a real handicap on a good day. I can see which side of the fence you are firmly rooted on.

Tiger was also around +5 when he turned pro........using this he only averaged 35 stbl/round with a high of 38 points on the first day!
