I was speaking to a mate today who told me about his efforts at the Lossiemouth Open the other week.

As he approached the first green, he reached into his bag for his putter only to discover that he'd left it in the car. There followed a bit of effing and blinding before he got down to figuring out what he'd do and he figured his best option was to putt with one of his wedges.

He only went and made buffer  That's some kind of achievement.

So I got to wondering what my finest hour on the golf course had been and I can't think of anything that comes even close to that. Can anyone beat it?

Apart from starting a Medal with a quadruple bogey, then shooting level par from there to win by 3 shots.....not really..

Thinking I'd picked a 9 iron for our 135 yard par 3 8th, but carrying it about 30 yards too far and then realising that it was actually a 6 iron!!!

Nearly as good as me not using my brain, and believing my GPS telling me that it was 110 yards to green then hitting the "right" club which carried the green on the fly ending up goodness knows where.
Then realised that I had set GPS to start on 1st hole, and we had started on the 10th:o

Playing a shot out of a water hazzard on the 2nd hole of a 36 hole scratch event then playing the other 34 holes looking like a mud splattered urchin. Powder blue breeks and pink sweater looked good on the first!

Er. Scary! I've done pretty much 'all the above'!

And a few more I'm not sure whether it's good to be reminded of!

The most satisfying game I've ever had was a scratch team match away from home.

My opponent:

Refused to shake hands on the first tee
Stood leaning against his bag on the first as I looked for my ball in the rough
Swore out loud when I holed a 10 footer for a half after finding it
Said on the second tee "Just to let you know, I don't lose home games"

5 birdies in the next 7 holes later, he had snapped 3 clubs. I won on the 15th.

:clap::thup:

The guy is 'not a golfer' imo!

I'd have paid to witness all of that!
Did he shake your hand at the end?

about two years ago - trickled into a green side bunker for 3 on a par 5.

Qualifier last week, 2 over on the front 9 and cruising along nicely, 16 over on the back 9 for probably the worst back 9 I've ever played. A new PB of 5 doubles in a row - followed by a 10. Quality!

I was level par through 13 a few weeks ago and finished with four doubles and a treble.

That was a laugh, thankfully I had already won the match 8&7.

There were a few people round the green when we finished, he offered out a very half hearted hand, I shook it, kept a hold and told him that I'd REALLY enjoyed the game:D

Went out today in an intermediate scratch cup and shot a gross 75....Id been complaining for the past few weeks that im shooting low 80's and id love to shoot a below 80 round....I only go out today and play out of my skin....+2 front and a +2 back.......Happy Days....
