Your bucket list holiday... and no golf

Going on holiday and not playing golf is almost unthinkable - ok for a short sunshine break in the Canary Islands but I can't imagine going to the US without my clubs.

We're just planning next year's holiday and it looks like coming down to a choice between the US, Thailand and Malaysia (or possibly Thailand and Malaysia). If the dollar keeps dropping then I think we'll more likely to be heading East.

My honeymoon was the last big holiday I had without my clubs and we went to Egypt for 3 weeks. An absolutely fantastic holiday, amazing sights, friendly people, fantastic weather, empty hotels and of course the most spectacular case of Pharoah's Revenge- but it was 22 years ago, it's really sad to see what's happening there now. I know you can still go to the Red Sea resorts safely but the really interesting stuff is in Cairo, Luxor and Aswan.

I can't understand anyone not wanting to visit the US, I guess TV is to blame. It's a huge country and incredibly diverse, of course there are places in some cities you really should keep clear of but isn't that true of cities in the UK and all over the world? Plus, generally speaking, they love the Brits and probably won't shoot you :)

The west coast of Ireland is fabulous. I particularly love it down on the Dingle peninsula in county Kerry.

Yep, lovely place, I cycled across the south of Ireland and all the way up the west coast about 15 years ago. Very fond memories (and sore behind) of the trip, it was a fantastic way to see the country. Met some really lovely people but the highlight for me was the time spent on the Aran islands as it was like a living history and had a fantastic sense of community.

our honeymoon (got married in 2007!) will be, New York then onto Vegas, Seattle then finish up in hawaii. i have all the itineraries planned! just need the time, money and babysitters!!

Did a ten day fly drive in South Florida last January - I'd go back again at the same time of year, loved Miami and Islamorada on the Florida Keys and liked Naples/Fort Worth area on the South West coast - mind you we did sneak in a round of golf :D

You of course mean Fort Myers, Fort Worth is in Dallas ;)

What would your bucket list holiday be?

We've got the opportunity early March to, almost, pick the holiday of a life time. On the list for us;

1) Florida fly drive for 3 weeks.
2) California/Vegas flydrive.
3) Indian Ocean island, Seychelles or Maldives.
4) Sri Lanka.
3) China - Great Wall & Yangste cruise.

Mrs Hobbit isn't to fussed about the U.S. coz they shoot people, but I'm hoping. My second choice would be a two centre, one week in Sri Lanka and one week in the Seychelles.

Thoughts...?

The Seychelles is a stunning place i got married there 24 years ago so it might have changed a bit since then, to this day i say it wasn't legal getting married there.:whistle: For me it would be San Francisco then drive up to Carmel and Pebble Beach
