What would your bucket list holiday be?

We've got the opportunity early March to, almost, pick the holiday of a life time. On the list for us;

1) Florida fly drive for 3 weeks.
2) California/Vegas flydrive.
3) Indian Ocean island, Seychelles or Maldives.
4) Sri Lanka.
3) China - Great Wall & Yangste cruise.

Mrs Hobbit isn't to fussed about the U.S. coz they shoot people, but I'm hoping. My second choice would be a two centre, one week in Sri Lanka and one week in the Seychelles.

Thoughts...?

Always fancied going to Argentina, Buenos Aires specifically.

Also New Zealand and Japan.

Iceland seems interesting as well. (and there is the chance to play the unmentionable game at 3 o'clock in the morning during the summer!)

I'd really recommend Iceland if you get the chance. Horrendously expensive but really fascinating, coming out of a bar at 1 am to be greeted with sunlight was strange to say the least. Also helps if you are a Sigur Ros fan as I am.

New Zealand is like the UK in the 1950s in a good way and Japan is weird in a good way. Good choices there, make it happen!

Been very lucky in that I have visited a lot of places through work and pleasure so have not really got anywhere I desperately want to visit. I think the US is one place that never fails to please me so probably seeing more of it would be the one thing I'd like to do. Something like a dual holiday in Montana horse riding for the wife and daughter and playing some obscure hitting a ball with a stick for me.

Mrs T is not a good flyer so we are planning on going to Lake Garda next summer!

Mmm, it's a long way to New Zealand on a boat. Maybe this will help?

Also not trying to be too flippant as I know it can be very distressing if you don't like flying. I had a few issues myself after a nasty landing many years ago.

Always fancied Goa for the full moon parties, never got round too it and sadly I'm too old for the raving nowadays. :(

In no particular order;

1) Egypt.
2) Thailand.
3) Scandinavian country (to see Aurora Borealis).

Trans Canada would be good; done the western half on the Rocky Mountaineer, along with the Calgary Stampede and a visit to Banff Springs, would highly recommend that. And a good few weeks in Australia, including Melbourne & some sand belt courses are on the list. Also some bits of the States I'd still like to visit & possibly Japan, but fortunate to have done a lot of what I would like to travel wise. If it was six months later I'd have recommended New England in the fall. Ticked Bermuda off the list this year, also recommended.

Tanzania for a 4 day safari then onto Zanzibar for another 4 or 5 days. Fly down to Port Elizabeth and drive the Garden Route along the south coast of South Africa across to the wine region and then finish up in Cape Town for Table Mountain and great white shark diving and a visit to paddle with the penguins at Boulders Beach.

Would love to experience the northern lights during Christmas (but not in Scotland, because its grim ;))
Gold Coast Australia during Christmas would be cool too, would be nice to experience heat during what should be a cold holiday for us.

Sri Lanka, Southern India then Japan would be ideal for me. I did get the chance of diving the old nuclear testing wrecks at Bikini Attol a few years ago, but couldn't arrange enough time away from work and family to fit in the travelling time. I'd love a second chance at that..

Rome always exceeds my expectations.
Scilly isles are magic.
Fancy a cottage on a deserted beach in the Outer Hebrides

Dont like Japan other than the trains.

Probably for retirement for me and the missus:-

See 2-3 ashes tests in Australia and a bit of travelling round.

See 2 games of the British lions in South Africa and also do a few days safari.

Looking to do San Fran/LA and Vegas in one holiday in the next 3-4 years.

Of those you've listed, if you haven't been before, California all the way for me, absolutely love it there. San Francisco is quite possibly my favourite City but loads of great places down the coast.

As soon as our kids are old enough so the flight isn't a monumental ball ache we'll be going there again.

Agree with LB, one of my bucket list things to do is follow a Lions tour in South Africa.

Was lucky enough to be out in SA on my honeymoon with the ex Mrs Colch when the Lions were over there. Didn't get to go to any of the games but did leave her laying by the pool while I watched one of the games in a bar. The atmosphere was brilliant and the South Africans didn't seem to mind an English guy in their midst going nuts when the Lions won.
