Your best shot ever?

A crushing 3 wood, wich left me 30 yards away from the hole, wich i pitched to about 2 feet, and then holed for first ever birdie. Wait hang on that's two...

Well both are good enough for me.

Holed a 9 iron for eagle. Right infront of the county coach. Made me go 3up against gwent. Best day ever.

Remember hitting a cut 4 iron into the 14th at Wimbledon Common in front of a couple of families out for a stroll having told the two blokes exactly what I was going to do. Hit it to about 3 feet and exited with a smug grin on my chops. As others have said I've hit loads of great ones over the years and impossible to choose just one

There was one super-special 4-iron to the 18th at La Cala that was fantastic purely because of the context of the match.... in fact that could be the one :)

Par 5, 250yds out, down hill looking at a green the size of a stamp, needed a birdie to secure the victory and flushed a 4-iron that was like a laser-guided missile. Rolled the eagle putt to the edge of the hole and tapped in for the win - you'd have had to be there to feel it!!! :)

that hole is a really strange one, but the shot into the green is a fantastic one - you feel miles up in the air!

There's been a few great ones in my short golfing career.

Probably my favorite was a 240 yard 3 wood to the green on our par 5 16th to 2ft. Just pured it, slight bit of draw. I just stood there holding my follow through watching it fly. Was a thing of beauty that one.

The other memorable one was the first time I got back spin on the green. 110 out with my SW, fired it over the flag, landed, bounced then backed up 12ft and stopped within about a foot of the pin. I was playing with a couple of members for the first time and got the "24 hcp my ass" comment. Never seen a 24 hcp back the ball up 12 ft before :D

I'm not going to vote for any of the regular (but flukey) shots. I'm not even going to vote for my outrageous pitch-in playing with Alchemy. Or the stone-dead 90 yards pitch at Homer's (on the par 5 4th).

I'm going to say there is ONE shot that sits in my memory way above all/any of the nice shots I've played....and it's not a hole-in-one either.

At my old, old club in Birmingham, I'd never birdied the 1st hole. It was long, and I played it as a 5. In the early days as a beginner, I frequently had 7s and 8s.

I got paired up with a player from my club who I didn't get on with. The captain put us together, because HE could drive the ball and I could hit my irons....it was for some alternate ball comps.

He drove it 265-ish down the first, leaving about 185-190 over two ditches and threaded between two trees. I pulled out my 4 iron, he (my partner) said "don't be silly, that's way too much club". We argued for a while, he got in a strop and I promised him 4 iron was the club. he said, "just hit the thing a little left, and if you go through the back, I'll wrap it round your ****** head". Slightly taken-aback by his attitude...I asked "how much left do you want"....."1 foot, 6 yards, 8 cm".......

by this time, our personalities were getting in the way. He calmed down and said...."look Dave, try and land it just short of the green a bit left....but don't go in the trees (long) please"

Needless to say, I got lucky. It landed a foot short of the green, kicked right and rolled up, tapped the pin (nealry dropped) and 3 minutes later my new mate had rolled it in for a 3 for 4 points.

Best shot ever....we went on to win the match by the 14th and got paired up for a whole season. We never lost a game. He drove, I ironed, he putted then read the 2nd putt for me, never missed one in games and games. We parred almost whole courses!!!!

Thats a toughie...
First one that comes to my head was when I was playing in Florida on the 10th hole...I had an uphill pitch shot to a pin just on the second tier...and the tier was MASSIVE (I remember the previous day my dad took a 5-putt as the ball kept coming down off it!). I hit my shot just the way I wanted to...unfortunately I didn't see it land or go in although I knew it went straight into the hole on the second bounce...it was just like Tiger on the first in Torrey Pines that year. :D
