xr3/xr31 where to buy

i had a black XR3, DTU1X. legend of a car, great times! its no longer with us it went to the great scrap yard in the sky many years ago:(.

I'm thinking about treating myself to something a bit hooligan again soon, something a bit older that you can still take a spanner to without having to plug it in to NASA first. I'd love another Capri but they are few and far between and fetch silly money, something like a Sierra XR4x4 would be nice. The other idea which is even more appealing but probably a bit more costly long term is a kit sportscar, a Westfield or Caterham.

I had three Capri's but now I have got a much more sensible car. Always liked the look of the 280 Brookland Capri, but I bet they are top dollar.

any old school blue oval bring big money now, mad to think what you had on your driveway years back and sold on, worth alot now! xr, rs, supersports etc.

I had a Capri 3.0S , What a car that was :)

In July I was in a bidding war with two guys on ebay for a VGC 1985 Capri S. I admitted defeat when it hit £7.5k.
It was a beaut though, red with a black Ford emblazoned stripe. 58k on the clock and full restoration and service history.

Just couldn't afford to go above that price at the time. Got my eye on a wee XR2i on t'bay at the minute though 😊

Until you had to go round a corner!

I never got the 'hot hatch' craze - wrong age at the time (and now) I suppose. I did once flash that an R5 Turbo that was in the Beemer lane, then blink and it had disappeared! And a mate from Hockey had a VW Scirocco that was seriously nippy. Worked at BMW for a while (driving an Audi A6) and the zippy purchase by a few was the M3 - with the 'tuned' tin-can exhaust note!

Got an XR03 sitting in the 'spares' box btw - but it's non-conforming!

All this started when i went for an mot last week and an escort xr3 x reg rolled in behind me, same car as i use to have in my youth, now i feel the need to have one again. it is a need

Problem is you only remember the good times! That car probably failed the MOT and the modern conveniences (ABS brakes?, air con etc) make driving so much more of a pleasure than seat of pants stuff of yesteryear!
