Agreed with my relatives some years ago that we would stop buying presents outside of our immediate family, so its just the kids and my wife to sort.

Was getting around two-thirds online up to last year. Will be entirely online this year (I've not actually been inside a shop to buy anything since mid-March part from essentials from the pharmacy).

If you haven’t done so, have a look at Master of Malt. Plenty of interesting stuff, well described and often with reviews from customers. Highly recommended, just don’t blame me if your bank balance suffers ?

Had a look, oh yes some very nice stuff there

TBH I do most of my whisky shopping at Tesco, picked up a bottle of Laphroaig select for £23 yesterday £29 on MOM

I tend to balk at spending much more than £30-£35 on a bottle as I don’t think my palate can tell the difference between that and the pricey stuff

Lidl had a wooden train track last week so we got that for the little one. The rest I am waiting for Black Friday, which at dome places started today (Curry’s)

Can't argue that you'll get better prices at Tesco Phil, but you'll get a better choice of whisky at MoM; you're never going to find Smokehead in Tesco.

As an atheist I have no interest at all in Christmas. I neither buy nor receive presents. It helps that I haven't got any children.
I know Christmas is technically a religious festival, but I've never seen it that way. I've never been religious but Christmas for me is a way to relax at the end of the year, well-earned break from work, have a few drinks with friends and family, presents for the wife and other family. You don't have to be into religion to celebrate Christmas, it's more than that.

It's a pagan festival co-opted by christianity for their own purposes. Renamed of course.

From the moment someone realised there was a longest and shortest day they have sought to mark it somehow.

At some point someone else thought it was a great opportunity to make money.

I would prefer to mark the shortest day as mentioned above, beers, friends, relaxing etc. It’s great it stretched out to a week and is always wonderful way to round out a year, good or bad.
