Does anybody have a problem with the downloading of updates?!? I've been waiting for hours now. I have the disc it's taking forever!!!

My Santa brought my lad 
D) an xbox one too. Battlefront is awesome! Also we have disney infinity which is quite good FIFA and forza. Rory seems to have been missed so a trip to Game is needed.

I set mine up a few days before Christmas, more so I could have a go, but I was glad I did as it took a lot longer than the old stick a disc in and play...Fifa took hours as did Forza. Haven't had any system updates yet just the downloading of games.

I dread to think how many hours/days I spent on Championship Manager on the PC...was very tempted to buy a version again having not played for 10 or so years.

Am i correct in saying that on a xbox one you cant simply put the disk in and away you go (like on the 360) you have to store it to your hard drive??

From my limited experience the first time to play a game the disc needs to install onto the hard drive although you can start playing before it is installed 100%. Then anytime you play after its fully installed the disc needs to be used unless you have installed the full game onto the hard drive.
For example I have Forza 6 which came with the console when I bought it and that required downloading onto the hard drive but now doesn't have a disc whereas Rory needs the disc in to play.

Games have to be installed to hard drive, yes. The way it's supposed to work on Xbox One is that you can play games "instantly" from the disc whilst the full thing installs in the background. So for example, you can play the first level of a game whilst the remaining levels are being installed to the hard drive in the background. Of course, that all means that playing during installation necessitates a cut-down version of the game to be available instantly and in the case of many types of game technology it's not always possible to do that. So the end result is a bit of mess where different games all behave differently the first time you run them.
I don't think it's a very good user experience to be honest but the manufacturers get to dictate stupid ideas like that because the reality is they'd rather everyone download games rather than distribute everything on silly bits of plastic.
