i played in one of our comps last night match play,had to play last day for comp,one green the hole was full of water and about 2ft dia standing water around the hole as well ,we would have to have putted thro the water,we decidedon a half and moved on,what is the ruling when the hole is flooded please

It should have been shut but I'm not sure if there is anything to say you can't agree a half anywhere on a hole

I think that I read something recently that said you can agree to halve a hole as long as you both have played at least one shot on that hole

you might wish to look for that reference - I don't think it's valid.

there's certainly nothing wrong with the approach taken in this situation, although the players would also be justified in suspending play until the hole/course returned to a playable condition.
