Last night I played my first competitive round for almost 6 years. I've joined another club after a long absence, got my handicap a couple of weeks ago and entered the mid week medal last night.

Nervous on the first tee, the first time I've felt real nerves on a golf course for a loooong time. Didn't swing very well at all for the first 5 holes but somehow only dropped 2 shots. Turned in 38 which I was very very chuffed with. Then a couple of bad holes on 10 and 12 set me back a bit, but finished with an 83 (net 71). Standard scratch is 73 so I'm hopeful that I've done quite well :D

sounds a nice solid return to comp golf well played sub 80 very near which will bring that single figure target into view.
Nice start and if CSS stays at 73 a little trim on the way.

Well that didn't take long :-)

I'm now single figures again as a result of that competition.

I've just had an email from the handicapp and comp secretary saying my handicapp has been revised to 9.4 under general play provisions.

Think that's a little harsh, although I can see why they've done it, basically taken this comp round as another handicapp card and given me the lowest handicap from the 4 cards submitted.

Challenge now is staying there :)
