would you ever kick an animal?

Riding my bike once along cycle track , hit a low branch only to find a bag of dog s""" stuck in the vent of my helmet.
Good job it never burst?
If you are going to pick it up don't hang it on trees!
In my cycling experience it's small yappy dogs that chase bark at you not big dogs as the owners think small dogs are harmless!

Maybe if the circumstances demanded it.

It does get my goat the amount of owners who think it’s fine to allow there dog to run up to me bark and/or jump up at me and my family and think it’s fine just to say “He won’t hurt you”.

Train your dog and keep it under control around others.

Was the dog 'under control'? No!

I have witnessed a (girlfriend's pet) dog being shot for 'worrying sheep' for a single not dis-similar action - and there was no acceptable argument allowed!

So the guy should be allowed to use legitimate means to protect himself! Was his reaction legitimate? Possibly, but maybe OTT. But we are only being presented with 1 side of the story!

A responsible owner should keep a puppy on some sort of lead - long enough to allow freedom, but with the ability to 'bring it to heel' should the need arise! And that even extends to when the puppy has learned to respond to voice instructions!

I believe any clash is deemed to be the 'fault' of the puppy/dog owner - in the same way thet running into the back of another vehicle is deemed to be the fault of the vehicle behind!
